That makes sense,as one or two of the King St staff have fabulous knowledge on H things,so its a good way of training new staff.Plus it will keep both places in touch with customer trends and can stock each accordingly..........I'm guessing (could be completely on the wrong track here) that Selfridges will attract an entirely different clientele to King St?

The Manager told me that Selfridges is aimed at the younger & introductory markets (so that counts me out LOL) and they will stock acccordingly. King Street will be aimed at their other customers and will stock the more expensive items. As you already said working in both stores is a good way of increasing the knowledge of their new staff and them getting exposure to different stock items.

^^^^^ I guess that could count me out too as I'm in my *cough* 40's!!!! I can see the reasoning behind the structure,as the Selfridges one is very accessible and much easier as a 'walk through' place as opposed to a destination store,which can be a tad off putting if you are new to the brand and just want to browse and 'dip your toe' as it were.

I think that once new customers have dipped their toes and decided they like it, H hope they will then maybe go to King Street as well. As you said Chaz, Selfridges is very accessible and King Street have already noticed more customers as a result of it. It is also good for all their previous King Street customers who can now shop for H at 2 stores.

Yes you are right that Selfridges is more "accessible" I wandered in straight from M&S - very relaxed!! We should arrange a Manchester meet - this was mooted a while ago but seems to have drifted. Wonder if anyone would be up for it? Should we put a thread up on tpf meets?

I'm a relative newb but I'd be up for a Manchester meet if I'm invited! It'd be a great excuse to slobber over (sorry... to admire) all your lovely bags before I choose one of my own! :yahoo:

I'm happy to verify my identity to selected people if that's required before going to a meet! :smile1:

Yes i'd be up for a Mancs - although ive been wondering about a London meet I posted a thread on it today in fact apparently there's a Hermes event at Liberty in Sep????:drinkup::drinkup::drinkup:
Maybe some of the others members might enjoy coming up north too:broom::broom:?????

mooks has suggested the 19th sep for london, sadly im down mon and tues before the 19th so cant make it down again for the sat...... as im in new york the following week. maybe it would be good to have an alternate meet in london for people who cant make 19th?or maybe a manchester meet?????????

Sept 7 in the scarf room. Card holders' event not till way after. See you there.

I rang Liberty's events manager yesterday and she said the Hermes/Libertys collaboration event will be held from the 7th September in the scarf room (its a scarf thing only I think)

The scarves will be limited edition

They usually privilege card holders first to these events but this time the CH event will be approx a month later and any discounts will not be applicable to the H/L scarves.

Hope this clarifies
