Hi Everyone,
I searched for this on tPF, but didn't find an answer. I do feel silly asking this, but ...

I have friends who regularly receive handwritten thank you notes from their SA's after making a purchase. I have never received one. I am relatively new to making regular purchases in my home store with the same SA (about 6 months), but have a longer history with the brand.

Their perspective is I should find a new SA because not receiving thank you notes indicates an issue in the relationship, and that I won't be able to obtain rare items through her in the future. We all have the same home store.

Please don't mistake this question for an expectation that I should receive a thank you. I don't think that at all. The thank you is the quality of the H product, and the years of enjoyment it brings.

Do SA's regularly send handwritten thank you notes? Is not receiving any indicative of an issue? This feels crazy, but I've heard this more than a few times now.

In my experience, some send them and some do not. My home boutique does not send them. The SA's at shops where I have purchased items while on vacation have always sent little notes. Though I think it is a nice gesture to send them, I still have a great relationship with my home SA, note or no note. Please don't be discouraged by the lack of follow up note. Best wishes!

not handwritten, but I did receive a thank you email. It's a great touch and something I feel like most SAs should do... great as the brand and products are, relationship building should still be a two way street! But I wouldn't go far as to say no thank you notes means there's an issue...

Thanks. I agree that a thank you any type is a nice touch, although not necessary.

No thank you notes, no beverage offer while shopping, not even perfume samples after paying for my goodies but... I get an response to my emails within 24 hours, she always tracks down items I want, most especially, she gets me everything on my wishlist! So the lack of thank you note is not indicative of a doomed relationship, IMO.

hi ladies, anyone willing to tell me how much they spent before they got offered a bag?roughly and on what items?
unfortunately there is no straight answer to this - different store and even different SAs in the same store has different practices. I can only speak to my own personal experience.

In my home store, it's not about the $ that you spend and more about the appreciation of the brand. I know this is such a nebulous answer and I know people would rather be given the absolute $ figure, but unfortunately it's a tad more complicated than that. My SA has been there for a long time and with that comes a LOT of pluses but also some minuses. She has a big book of business and is a bit stricter than those SAs who are just starting out to build their book of business / client portfolio. That said, she is always responsive, professional, knowledgeable (a huge plus for me cos I have an obsessive personality and I like to know every little detail when I'm interested in something) and up to date with her H news (yay, gossip!). She always offers me things that she knows I'd love, and in return I am considerate of her time, I buy from various categories consistently and I am not all that high maintenance (or so I think).

I know some other stores, typically those who have a lot of tourist traffic, have different approaches. I have heard stories of people dropping $$$$ and being offered a bag on the spot without prior spend history in the store, or SAs who would outright tell you you need to spend $$$$ in certain categories to get offered a bag. I can't speak to that nor do I have any details on the circumstances, since that never happened to me.

HTH.

I have to admit, the no beverage thing drives me crazy. It is a simple piece of customer service to offer a glass of water etc... Yet, you are right... you have a great SA who responds quickly AND makes your H dreams come true, so that is more important!

I agree. Let me add that the longer the SA’s book of clients, the longer it might take for him or her to be able to offer you a bag. For this semester, it seems to be taking relatively longer for me to be offered a bag off my wish list and I think it’s cos my SAs continues to gain more clients. I am happy she is though cos that’s good for her business. I also need to be patient Too and just breathe cos this semester is only a month in LOL

I’m quite the opposite LOL. I get offered water and champagne quite often but I prefer not to cos I am trying to get out fast so I don’t overspend. I wish they had a drive thru really cos it’s just so tempting walking around the store taking in all things Hermes in all its glory

So funny! I know what you mean about getting in and out quickly: I never let the glass of water slow me down much! :)

Thank you. It's helpful to understand there are different relationships that work.
