Hello. Like people have said in this thread, results may vary.
It is so important to establish a good relationship with your SA and purchase in different categories.

For me, it only took 3 months to get my QB. My spend was only about 0.70:1.
Wow! You must be very lucky and got a very nice SA there. Congrats!

P.S. By the way, @FrenchNewbie which bag did you get?

Yes, a B35 in today’s market will likely require less time and investment if that is the size bag OP wants.

Spend, frequency of visit, bag requested, personality, and competition will all be a factor in this. At 1:1 at BH you’re probably currently looking at years (read: potentially never). Spend closer to 3:1 and you’re probably looking at 6 months to a year for a normal mid-range quota bag (B30/K28).
@bagnn1 I agree with @acrowcounted with her helpful info. I also heard that BH is the most competitive boutique in CA and the ratio is usually around 4-5:1.
Thanks for the replies. I’m going to try to spend atlest 3:1 by end of this year. Hopefully by next year I get something.

Wow that’s amazing. If you don’t mind me asking, what location?

Hi everyone. I wanted to know when did everyone get there first QB. I’m quite new to the Hermes game. I’ve been shopping for about 3 months and have a 1:1 ratio. How long does it usually take for a first QB offer? My home store is Beverly Hills.
Ditto on what everyone has said. Purchase items you like - across categories. You may need to spend much more and for a longer period of time- all results vary depending on which bag you are interested in and if you are perceived as a “future long term client” or not. I don’t keep track of my spending but it was a lot more than 1:1. If you read other’s posts, with limited exceptions and excluding fsh, prespend is 3-5:1. . I have had NO offers with a 9-10:1 and I have had offers with 0:1 and back to back. It depends on once you are an established client and what your preferences/availability are.

Totally agree with @Mrs.Hermess . I have had no offers with similar high spend ratios, and offers with very low spend ratios (0.13:1) at a new boutique because the SA perceived me as a long term client with "potential." A lot of it also comes down to luck, meeting the right SA at the right time, and whatever bags happen to be available to your SA at that particular moment in time in the stock room... or if the store manager is in a good mood that day lol.

BH has been my home store for 10 years and I have been extremely lucky from the very beginning. @acrowcounted is completely correct in her assessment of Beverly Hills. The demand for QBs is unprecedented today. Be prepared to spend 2.5 to 4:1 for a desired leather 25 Kelly or Birkin and at least a year. Maybe a little less for a first larger QB to entice you. If you buy fine jewelry with diamonds or leather furniture, less than a year. I personally spend at one time as opposed to going in repeatedly and have never had a wish list with my current SA because he knows my style better than I do. Be flexible and patient. Good luck!

For me it took 8 months incl 4 months with no purchase since my first SA left. I met my 2nd SA and 1 week later he offered me a B25. My prespend is 0,8:1. I’m in Europe.

I was offered a very desirable B25 with very little spend, and now in the same boutique different SA (my other SA left), I’ve been waiting for a kelly well over a year now and I’ve spent a significant amount. I’ve got only 1 QB in like almost 3.5 years.

It’s been a frustrating experience to say the least, patience testing and been thinking about going to another boutique/starting over.

I have mad respect for everyone here who’s waited so patiently, I just can’t help but keep going to another brand who make it easier for me to shop if I’m a regular client and they’ve provided me a much more personable experience.

There was a time period during Covid (basically when everything was shut down) when they were really trying to move anything (including quota bags) and the offers were super easy. That has unfortunately since changed.

Not saying that this is what happened at all in your case, but there has been rumors that if an SA is too easy on bag offers they are more likely to be let go, as their KPIs for selling other products won’t meet the percentage goal (there is a goal on what is the ratio of sales between non bags/leather and other categories). Please take this with a huge grain of salt as I don’t think it’s ever been confirmed by anyone.

Unrelated but since I’m on the topic - the other reason I’ve heard of SAs being fired is because they were found to be receiving kickbacks (this one I trust to hold some water).

I think pre-pandemic, in my experience at least, it was a lot easier to receive a QB. I also got offered a very desired Kelly down to the specs I wanted prior to my B25, which I ended up passing due to size — didn’t work for my body type and I think I was still a bit young and didn’t appreciate the H aesthetic as much.

You’re the second person today who mentioned kickbacks, so now I’m starting to believe it’s real! I hate to say it, but this toxic environment starts from the top. I love the H quality of everything and lifestyle of goods they make, but they reap what they sow. I just wish they treated their loyal clients better than a doormat lol!

Definitely it used to be easier pre-pandemic. I think for some reason H has gotten so much more popular (there are some fun discussions around why - have seen theories such as people actually migrated towards the higher end of luxury brands because of the pandemic / economy, as they are perceived to be better “investment” and “hold value” - by the way I hate how resellers have been pushing that for H - plus all the social media that’s been making H more and more popular, perhaps silently encouraged by H themselves).

At the end of the day I think all the issues stem from the fundamental fact that there is profit that can be made because of the quota bags model. The difference between the bags’ retail price and reseller price means there is money involved. And when there’s money…

Hermes SAs are thus IMO tasked with something that shouldn’t have been a responsibility for a sales associate whose job description was supposed to be simply selling merchandise (while providing good customer service). I feel bad for them especially since I know sometimes they are stuck between clients and SM/corporate. And unfortunately, we are where we are today.

Going on a tangent again…not directed at you at all OP!…I don’t like it when people pretend to not see the reality of the situation, when it’s abundantly clear from pure mathematics (which calculates whether one likes it or not) that we have a situation. It is one thing to not like it and refuse to take part in it, in fact I admire that and also personally do not like the whole “game” thing, but trying to go “lalala it’s not real” is not going to help people who are here on this forum asking for advice, and I wish we can all recognize this and strive to be supportive and helpful.

Rant over :flowers:

I really hope you can come across the bag that you want and happy that you passed B25 when it’s not for you - I hope that bag went to someone who truly appreciated it (instead of having been caught up with the H craze).

When you say kickback, do you mean SA’s getting fired for receiving gifts from clients after they give them quota bags?
