Hi all! I've met a lovely SA in Paris (my prespend is +/- 60K) and she told me to let her know if I like something so she can check if it's in stock. However, what I've noticed is that she only replies on RTW, home/porcelain and fine jewelry requests. She ignores other requests like sandals and belts. I have two beautiful quota bags so that's not my priority but obviously I want to purchase other leather items that are on my wishlist too. She wants me to shop with her but if she keeps ignoring my other requests I feel like checking the stock of other stores too? Especially because we're not talking about bags at all. Does your SA reserve leather items for you? She's very friendly btw! Thanks for your help
Typically when my SA ignores something I mention in text it’s simply because the item is not available, otherwise I get a prompt response. It took time to understand this but now it makes sense. They read through a bunch of texts and emails all day with requests, so I assume sometimes it’s easier to just answer the clients they can actually assist. I know a nice reply like “sorry that item is not available” would be great but they really are slammed at times.

That’s just my experience though.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Would you purchase products at another store (for instance on holiday) if you see something you like or do you only stick to your main SA and send her a picture? This is the first time I directly have contact with a SA and I’m one of those that believe loyalty always gets rewarded.

I think it depends if my store can get the item for me. Sometimes they can pre-order it or order from online but some popular products are impossible to order.

If 99% of my purchases are from my regular SA there is never a problem if I see something “hard to get” online or if I travel somewhere and get lucky with a great item, once in a while.
Just don’t make it a habit, you know.

I always just ask my SA if they have it/can get it - it would be really rare that I did not give an SA that I've worked with over time the opportunity. (This is partly selfish too, because the prices at home in France are lower than anywhere outside the EU! But, sometimes I will ask one of my US SAs.)
Usually it's pretty easy to tell if an item's going to be hard to find - jewelry, scarves, home stuff, SLGs, pretty much any SA can order these for you.

it's best to buy something in stock at the store.
Yes, this. but I strongly suggest you buy something that you love, irrespective of QB, bc nothing is guaranteed

ETA: if you make your SA do the legwork to order an expensive piece of FJ that you have not tried on in person, and you decide you do not like it, or it does not fit, or it doesnt hang correctly, then the boutique is stuck with an item they may not be able to move.

if your piece is located at another store, your SA will have to work harder to get the other store to release it. Depending on the item, some horse trading could be involved. If your store has to trade an item that your SM believes is a sure sell, for your piece, and you end up not buying it, it’s an aggravation. The SM may also simply begrudge the time and effort your SA will have to expend.

if the other store refuses to release the item, then you might be able to get it through a charge send, but then your store will not get credit.

if your SA has to order this off H.com, H.com has a separate P&L from the store, and the store does not get credit.

Am tagging @acrowcounted, bc if I’ve gotten these scenarios wrong, she ( or of course anyone else with knowledge of this) will be able to chime in.

Thank you @880 for the response! I did try it on last year, and I've been thinking of it ever since. But you're right, I don't quite remember what size it was... it is discouraging to hear about all the scenarios, plus that it might not even count towards a QB

Hello!

Question: I'm in the US and wondering if there's an etiquette around updating my handbag wish list (includes removing a couple of items). I recently went to the boutique to make a few purchases, but it didn't feel like the best time to bring it up. I probably won't be back in for another month or two. Should I give my SA a heads up over text now, wait until I'm in the boutique next time, etc.?

Thanks for your help and patience (it's a bit unclear how formal the process is)!

I would definitely wait until you’re in person. I’ve only texted my SA to set up an appointment, to ask if X thing was in stock, and for other things my SA expressly said I should text him about (i.e. we were talking about nonqb bags I would be interested in and he expressly told me to text him what color Constance I would like because I couldn’t choose at the time).

I’ve been trying to find an SA in the NYC Madison Avenue boutique and just can’t seem to click with any of them. The SA on the leather floor gave me her contact info a few months ago as I was looking for a Garden Party but she hasn’t really put any active effort into following up with me. I was patient and tried to get it through to establish a relationship but ended up just snagging it when I saw it online. All of my other purchases were in various other boutiques around the world while on vacation who were able to offer me bags. I am beginning to think I’ll never find a local SA!

Were you interested in anything else or just the Garden Party?

I also asked for some rodeos and twillies for my b30 and interestingly enough, the SA told me she should have both the GP the following week and rodeos usually come in at the beginning of each month, so I was pretty hopeful. But then radio silence and I even texted her to follow-up but nothing. Again, I have minimal spend history there so that’s probably why. Tried to buy it with her to start building a relationship, but when I see the GP and rodeos constantly on the US website, I just decided to buy it there. Sigh…
