Amen. I’ll keep saying it. There is a big difference between those who spend a significant amount, either at one time or over the course of a few visits. I think it is unwise to “pop in” with the intent to “build a relationship” (aka not spend) if you are not one to spent six figures over the course of a year or two.

Different relationships for different spends. Sorry. But I really think that is what it boils down in most circumstances.

Agree. An SA is at work to work and earn income, even if the SA is friends/friendly with clients. I have a great time with my SA but I don’t go in just to visit (ie with the intention to not spend).

Hi! So I’ve read through a lot of threads, and I see it mentioned that shoppers should frequently visit their boutique if they’re interested in getting a QB offer. I started my Hermes journey last summer, and I probably go into the boutique every couple months, a little more recently as I’ve paid closer attention to the brand. I was wondering though what people mean when they say frequently, because I feel like with only 2 seasons a year, not much new is coming out? And do you always make a purchase each time, or sometimes just drop in to see what’s new? I’m afraid of wasting my SA’s time, so I don’t go in unless I’ve identified something I’m looking for, but then I wonder if I’m missing out on face time. I’m also not that into scarves, so I feel like each visit is a substantial purchase. Thank you!
I think how often u go depends on what kind of shopper u r.

U can make appointment at regular intervals when u r feeling spendy and buy whatever catches your fancy at the store. That’s one way.

I just send my SA what I want, on and off based on what I saw on the website and social media. Because I hate it if I get the item in 1 colourway to find there is another one which I like better!

Anyway, H don’t have good stock at any 1 point in time (to me at least). Stocks trickle in rather slowly. So, it’s best for me to be organic.

I don’t go in without my wishlist item waiting for my at the store. I’m kinda happy that way because it can be disastrous to my bank account if H has a lot of stuff for me to buy at 1 visit.

Agree. Someone, maybe my dior SA, said the trickle is deliberate. The purpose is to get clients coming in more frequently. But for us RTW clients who come on somewhat regularly anyway, it can be inconvenient. especially if not all colorways are available at the same time. Why I agree with @Genepi that if you see something you like, buy it, bc it may not be around for long. Although I never make a wishlist, I do have an idea about how much I like to spend per visit which works for me. That amount shifts if, for example, I prefer items at chanel, dior, brunello, or bespoke to H from season to season, so it all evens out.

Echoing some of the sentiments above. I value my SA's time just as much as my own, I'd never make an appt to go in to just buy a scarf or something small; it's not worth my time and certainly not worth my SA's time. I usually text my SA things I like here and there, and when enough of them have arrived and are held, I go in to purchase them in one go.
how long will they hold stuff for you?

how long will they hold stuff for you?

This has been a common question and the answer is, like almost everything with H it will depend...and can be different for different people. It's probably both on H's end (i.e. the store's policy) and on your end (i.e. how long have you been a client and how strong the "relationship" is). It also may differ depending on the item (bags of course tend to be harder, but even SLGs sometimes can be subject to stricter holding policies at times of extremely high demand).

It's like some people can have bags shipped to them but some others can't. And sometimes month to month that changes...just a common theme when it comes to H. If you have a specific situation, best to directly ask your SA for what they can do

And another interesting data point on the topic of holding items: I don't know about the specific length my SA can hold something for me, but I know there is (was?) a limit on the number of items they can hold under my name (again, not sure if this going to also apply to others / other stores / other countries). But I knew that once my SA in fact held something for me under the name of another client of theirs, because the number held under my name was at that time too high. Because of this, I assume that even if your store has a policy limiting number of concurrent items held, it probably never truly affects you if your SA works around it. Just a tidbit I once found out and remembered b/c I thought it was interesting!

Couldn't agree more! :whut: I feel like the current climate at Hermes is making people a bit :panic:! If as a customer, one feels  and  why not just take a break? All the distress seems unnecessary. :shrugs:
Agree. Shopping should be fun, not stressful :hugs:I stepped away from Hermes for a number of years when my first SA left. It was no longer as enjoyable.

Hi, so a while ago I have asked about starting in-store shopping after being an occasional online shopper for fear that SAs are unwilling to assist new faces. It can seem daunting when more often than not unhappy shopping experience is being shared online instead of good ones. Thanks to the many helpful advice from the knowledgeable members of the forum, I thought I'd pop in to give a bit of unsolicited update and hopefully share the H experience from a newbie's perspective to others who have doubts about shopping at H

My observation is that SAs were not overly warm to me at first (because hey who does that!) as they were also observing whether I was serious in getting the items I asked to see vs just trying to touch this and that and leave (without the intention of buying, now or later). After they realised that I was serious about it, e.g. asking for specific colourways, asking for their opinion on some items etc. they became very helpful and friendly - as a first timer, I did not expect the SA to actually note down my requests for some other items but she did. She also gave me her contacts so that I could reach her for other items I want in the future. In fact to my surprise, she sent me her roster of the month for scheduling appointments and managed to have the items that I requested transferred to the store in a short time period too!

So I guess what I wanna say is, it's true it really doesn't matter whether you are a VIP or a newbie at a store as long as you are polite when making requests. Ps and Qs never hurt anybody. One thing that I note is that if you want to have something ordered for you, try to phrase it to make it known that you want to actually buy that item instead of being mistaken as simply wanting to order many items just to take a look at it. I have read posts about SAs typically replying that items are "out of stock" rather than doing searches which the customers understood as the SA being unhelpful. I suppose SAs have had too many customers/tourists treating their stores like a museum so they do not automatically order items unless they know that the customer is serious about it? (Perhaps members with more H knowledge can chime in with insights?)

So fellow newbies, it seems fair to say that the so-called "H game" buzz shouldn't interfere with the joy of shopping and getting the things that make your heart sing. I do not consider it a game nor do I had to go out of my way to "build a relationship". I went shopping and let the SA assist with the buying process. Neat and sweet.

Kudos to the members who were so kind to share their insights about H shopping and products with me. :hbeat: My wallet hates this forum though!
