It was a surprise to me to be asked last year for my wishlist, as that how it now works at my store. I had just collected an SO and the SA whom I also work well with was standing in, as my own SA was still with another client. So it was very clear that he was asked to obtain my wish on her behalf. This last week we checked and realised that wish had expired 6 months ago with no one realising it. My SA asked me to renew it again but despite that fact, I have been offered Kellys, Constances, other bag designs and a few exotics and limited editions in the meantime. Whatever works best for client and store.

Interesting to hear the 1 QB per year policy popping up. I’m new to the journey for just a month but got on really well with my local store SA in Switzerland. After a good consistent visit and spend for the last few weeks for things that I’m enjoying so much, I asked him last weekend to start my wish list now that I have better handle of the handbags I want. He said that the wish list is established at a special appointment. Each SA is allocated a set number of appointments within the pool. The next available is in December. In this appointment the SA will provide a thorough overview of the options, leather, colours, sizes, etc. to curate my wish list. They will bring out samples for me to try on. They try to satisfy everyone’s wish in 12 months, as currently there are over 4000 wishes. They don’t sell to non locals anymore. So the 12 months thing sounds like one bag per year to me! The special appointment system also sounds different from most other Hermes stories. It’s definitely another way to pace the bag sales. Perhaps it’s unique to my local store here in Switzerland?

same rules at my store in Germany

Do I have a wishlist, not really ( my SA always asked me which bag I would want next but I don’t really know what I want lol) and I don’t really have any particular one in mind. I have to see it in person and then visualize it with my clothing. I tend to stick with neutral/dark colors. And if I like something I normally buy multiple ones just in case I can’t find it anywhere else (clothing) lol I’m a bit weird I know. The funny thing atm is I’d rather get another C24 in any colors VS getting offered B or K at this point. Heck let alone Lindy 26 or 30 I wouldn’t mind either.
My SA tends to create a good selection of RTW and shoes for me and most of the time I’d say yes to it. So I let her do what’s best for her and what works for me. No pressure, no rush. I don’t ask for bags nor do I need another bag every 3-6 months but if good/amazing one comes my way and if I like/love it, I’ll get it.

My DH is probably happy at this point that I don’t swipe the card very so often like before since I’m expecting and due in couple of months. :panic::lol::lol:

If I want a q bag and I am prepared to commit to it and not change my mind, I let my SA/SM know right away. This allows my wish to be considered for inclusion in the store order and that can take a long time to appear in store. My SA/SM know if I asked for something specific for any bag, I will accept the offer.

If I don’t have anything specific in mind, I let my SA surprise me but expect nothing.

Congrats on arrival of lil one in a couple of months. Wishing you both the best in health

Hi everyone, I have quite uncommon situation and hope to hear some advice. I have a new SA since mid. 2021. When I was shopping in July he told me, my QB comes in August and we made an appointment. In August I was shopping as usual and was quite uncomfortable asking about QB. He told me it is not arrived yet, but surely would be there in September. Nothing hear from him and texted late September before I was out of town in October. He texted back telling we would certainly see each other very soon. Back from vocation, texted him and he‘s ghosting me already for one week. I just don’t understand why to do this. It frustrates me so much. Otherwise I’ve been shopping as before. I’m not a VIP and can understand if the QB went to someone else. But if so, why even tell if there’s nothing reserved for me? Now I don’t know how to communicate. BTW there’re some items I’d like to get and have to wait to his answer in order to make an appointment. Maybe it’s not a right SA for me?

Are you in the US? I know many expected shipments for US stores got pulled and rerouted for Madison and other new store openings/reopenings over the past few months. Shortages are still very real and frustrating for everyone, with competition still pretty high. That being said, in my opinion, unless the SA says ”bag xyz” with very specific specs (ie “I have a B30 noir Togo with GHW coming for you next month”) then it is just puffing. I would take “oh yes, I think we should definitely have a Birkin for you next month” with a HUGE grain of salt.

I agree with this, I’ve only been asked if I wanted bag XZ but it’s size Y, then they ask when I can come in after I said “yes please”. Likely they have the bag then and there and will hold it for you till you’re available. But not too long

I‘m Europe. That is the only bag with very specific specs on my wishlist. He said - and at this point I wasn’t even asking - it is coming (why to tell me it is coming if not for me?) and I was over the moon. But somehow very disappointed now

Ah you're in Europe. I faced the same thing with my SA so I just kept popping up at the store (to buy something, of course) and asked each time. My SA doesn’t like email or text so to connect with her, I go to the store. I got it, eventually.

But Europe is big. Each store might be different. Good luck.

firstly with just one week not having heard from your SA I wouldn't assume you're being 'ghosted' he or she may be on holiday or unwell and Hermes staff are not allowed to take their work phones home with them.
Also you mention in your 1st post and I quote "maybe its not the right SA for me?"
You have been shopping with your sa for over a year, I personally think you would be foolish to change sales associates now.
You HAVE built a relationship over that time and by deciding you wish to swap to someone else sounds like you are throwing your toys out of the pram because you didn't get your bag in the timeframe he or she suggested and who knows your new SA won't string you along further??
There is a genuine shortage of QB's and bags in general a friend of mine has waited over 18 months because her combo was very very specific.
Contact the store, find out when your SA is next working and make an appointment that way, stating that there are some items you wish to purchase and you've not heard from him.

Thank you for sharing. How many times did you popped up? Just to be prepared…

Yes, that’s a way too. You’re right - one week might not be such a long period of time. And he is quite nice to me, when I shop. I was just wondering why he mentioned the QB, when there was nothing. If I should take it personal…

I am polite and try to have very low expectations of most people, not just my H SA. If they don’t return my call, I either shrug it off or call them back. An H SA gets a lot of texts and emails. I would not take anything personally (but that goes for any SA). This way I can be pleasantly surprised if things go well.

So said my DM too. Thanks a lot for sharing your opinion.
