Just all the horror stories of people being blacklisted for daring to ask for a birkin on their second visit

If an SA were to be asked for a birkin on the second visit, instead of being blacklisted, a more common reaction would be eye roll or becoming disengaged with the client .... however if the client was respectful and spent an obscene amount of money the first time, pretty sure arrangements can be expedited. My two cents.

So maybe blacklist is an exaggeration. But from what I understand, it’s a massive faux pas to ask for a bag too early. Just wanted to know it only applies to B/K/C and not to all bags.
I asked for a Kelly on my first visit, didn’t buy anything else. We didn’t even make small talk. My husband was just like “it is my wife’s birthday. We want a Kelly.” My sa was like “do you guys have any purchase history?” We were like “nope!”

She was like “hmmm would you take a birkin instead?”

We said “nope! Already have enough birkins want a Kelly today!”
So she gave me a black Kelly 28. We shook hands and left the store without buying anything else. She has been our SA for a couple of years now. I am pretty sure we are not blacklisted lol.

As @maxroxxherhandbags stated, the blacklist rumour is rubbish & nothing more.

It also is not a massive faux pas to ask for what you wish to purchase, quota bag or not, at any point in time.

During my first visit, I took a look around - got what I wanted and then brought up about b/k. That's when I made a profile and wishlist. SA went over what would be hard color/sizes to get etc. and how long it could take.
Go to the store - be yourself - and ask for things you want or are interested in. Bags of any kind right now are scarce so they would prefer you have a relationship/history with them.
Hope this helps.

It's not a faux pas. An inquiry is always appropriate, but let it come naturally. Part of what I’ve seen, and experienced myself, is over analysis, fixation, and stress. What I’ve learned to bring myself back to is: if I were an SA, how would I wanted to be approached by a customer in my situation (spend, purchase history, etc.)? Its not about asking, but about how I’d be treated.

Well I went to the store yesterday. There wasn’t a queue. The lady at the top of the stairs asked how she could help, and I asked if there was an Evelyne I could see. She said there weren’t any. She didn’t even ask for my name/details to see whether I had a purchase history. I wonder if I should have asked for a formal leather appointment? Or did they really not have any bags?

Was this at FSH? If you are in Paris, you will need a leather appointment. But sometimes they will show you non-quota bags depending on the SA.

She was trying to help you. If you asked specifically for an Evelyn in certain specs eg size and she knew there weren't any available then it would be better you were informed there and then, rather than wait for a prolonged period for an SA, only to be told the same thing. If you were open to any other items in the leather department please then leave your details in future. That particular store is always super busy and very short of staff, so the wait can be rather long.
