Has anybody been requested by their SAs not to post their offers on social media? No unboxing videos at the store?
I've never heard of this in the UK but interested to find out about others' experience!
I wonder what proportion of Hermes customers use social media, this site included!
If you use a computer it very difficult to avoid some exposure to it.
Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion, not everyone uses or looks at Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook or the like.
How can anyone with any sense of personal style or self-respect allow 'influencers' to make their purchasing decisions for them.
I agree that the biggest headache social media is currently causing at the SA/store level (there's a completely separate point to be made for what they are doing to the Hermes brand or at the corporate level) is people seeing those posts, figuring out which store/SA that is, then going in with screenshots of those posts demanding the bag (or other item), asking "why did you give it to that person and not me". I personally have witnessed something like this, it probably happens a lot more than some would think. It's actually incredibly hard IMO to keep things completely anonymous and not give out any clues about one's real life online. And yeah scarily there are people who are that dedicated/crazy about Hermes bags that they will dig deep through your entire social media history looking for hints to figure things out.

I wonder if the inconsistency (for any guidelines on taking photos with identifiable information and posting them on public social media) is a reflection of whether the store/SA has experienced cases of other customers coming in with said posts and demanding bags. I do know that this is not just in Asia; one US store at least had some SAs advise customers to be careful about posting on social media (although I don't think it was a strict ban).

Preface: I have known this particular SA for ~15 years so we're a bit more chattier than others may be with their SA's.

The topic of social media/people posting came up because I mentioned I've seen people posting their bags (not just BKC) on here. My SA mentioned they have warned certain clients to stop posting their offers/new bags (a targeted warning). They also know which clients are low key resellers.

They've gathered this information via other clients and also here. Basically, the store has a general idea of what's going on with certain clients. Whether this matters or not is TBD.

Hmmm...interesting! While I have yet to receive an offer from my SA, perhaps I should keep it under wraps if/when I do. Presumably posting on the 'share your 2022 offers' thread is at your own risk so to speak.

since I’m just a consumer; don‘t resell anything; rarely consign; and am basically illiterate re instagram, I don’t think my SA cares. He knows I am on TPF (I ask him stuff like I heard or read x) and I get still get offers (shrugs). So long as I am here for fun, entertainment, and don’t get bent out of shape re anyone else’s offers, why not  . I also buy what I like without measuring prespend too closely; and, I don’t have an issue with waiting for stuff, so theres no pressure. (In other words, he knows that I will continue to shop with him regardless of BK). He also is familiar with my collection which includes vintage Hermes, and he loves seeing it, esp. the older barenia, box or vache natural.

Of course, this is just my experience and YMMV

eta:I am sure SAs don’t want their clients rushing to say, someone on TPF got this, how about me. Or, you told me x wasn’t available, but there was an offer. or this was supposed to be a VIP thing, so why. . .blah, blah. But, that is just my guess.

I think H just doesn’t want any trouble for themselves. They will rather not sell to someone who creates trouble for them.

I’ve def been at H when someone wanted to do a video for “unboxing “ and the SA or SM said no videos .. only photos
I’m always too busy trying to shop to take pics or videos .. maybe this is bc my store is not in my city but also the bag is coming home at some point so why do I need a picture of it ?!

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but does anyone know if any of the neutrals are significantly harder to get for B? I'm gearing up to give my wishlist to my SA for my first snag. In my heart of hearts, I want B in nata. Is nata impossible to get over gold/noir? Thanks!

Anything whiteish is produced less than black because people are afraid of the bag getting dirty, so while Nata is a neutral, it is harder to find as it’s not produced as much as noir, gold, etc.

Hi all. Thank you for all your thoughtful insights and advices so far. Just quick question, has anyone maintained a relationship with SA out of country? And if you do, how do you maintain relationship with SA out of country? How often do you see them and how to shop with them to score a bag?

Thank you for responding to my question! Would telling my SA I only want a B in nata be an unreasonable request?
When I first shared my wishlist with my SA, including a B30 in Craie, she said I’d have to be very patient. And while she has recently suggested that an offer may be forthcoming, she has indicated it will not be a B30 in Craie. I suspect pale Birkins are unicorns!!!

They truly may be! Would you mind sharing when you shared your wishlist with your SA and if you're in the US?

Nope. It’s retail shopping. Tell your SA what you want. Just be prepared to wait a while and be patient.
I guess I can always tell her my #1 preference is nata but would consider gold/noir :)

I am not based in the US but I have moved continents 3 times and maintained my relationships across Asia and Europe. I also have experience establishing new relationships as my “local” Hermes stores at least 3 times. It can be done, I have never shopped with prespend or calculated purchases for quota bags. In that sense I am very disorganised. It only takes time, loyalty to one SA, and patience.
