There’s not a set rule everywhere - at every store. Some markets and stores have a lot more competition and purchase expectations than others. Many stores just look at your general purchase history and consistent brand interest - they don’t narrow it down to a quota bag shopping reset in a certain month. A lot of members shop more in the beginning, buy a bit less later on, but are still offered quota bags. And I think a lot of members have said that once you get your first bag it’s easier to get your next ones. Just make sure your SA knows what you’re looking for, and just buy what you want to buy anyway.
Thank you so much Westcoastgal for this info (and thank you PaperPrincessD for posting the question!); very very helpful. I'm in the same boat as PaperbagPrincessD, and wondered about her question too. I'm hoping that my SA will tell me (hint to me) if I ever do fall behind on my purchase history. I also thought about the issue that it will probably take at least a year before my first bag will come in. So in the meantime, I'll just buy whatever I like and if I don't meet my purchase quota, then I'll decide what to do then.
Just my thought I'd like to share with PaperbagPrincessD: I'm planning to buy a watch, but since I now understand about the purchase history quota, but not sure how my store works on this issue, I'm going to hold back in purchasing my watch til next semester just in case, since it is not a seasonal but a year round design. Same for tableware. For shoes, I'm going ordered it now because I worry that the style will disappear next semester...so I'm planning ahead. Once again, thank you Westcoastgal and PaperbagPrincessD!:flowers:

Ok. So it restarts from the time you get your quota bag? For some reason I assumed it would restart in July.

Yes for my store it does reset as soon as I receive a quota bag but as westcoastgal said it really varies from store to store. I have a friend who shops in another state and they look at her overall loyalty to the brand and as long as she is consistent about making some purchases they aren’t as strict about her meeting specific purchase quotas before offering a bag.

Admittedly it’s been only six months but I think my impatience is coming more from our SA telling is a K25 is almost impossible but a K28 they can get for us. I really want a K25 as I’m petite and a B25 as well. I will eventually want a k28 too.

Was thinking indeed of going to Paris, South of France (which I think is a franchise) or Italy to try and get lucky. In terms of color — I’m not even that picky because this will be the first bag to tide me over while I patiently wait for other bags in my particular colors. The only thing I want is gold or rose gold hardware. For colors the blues, grays and blacks all appeal to me and so does the deep wine reds (I have not been keeping track of color names) and the violets. I prefer to get a neutral first (black gray blue are my neutrals) since I read those are easier to get than the desirable collectible colors.

What do you guys think? Should I try in Paris/Nice/Italy?

To my knowledge, you won't be offered a bag in Nice and Italy as a walk-in. Paris would be best option. I visited in June for a few days and I got rejected daily with FSH's online appointment system and Sevres didn't have any shipment. I think it'll be easier to score to a bag at FSH between January to April based on reading success stories in the "Paris trip for Hermes" chat.

Funny. I was thinking of buying a watch too! I think it will help. I haven’t told my SA what I want this semester, but for some reason I’ll feel better telling her after I get a watch since I believe that it helps. I know there are no rules and every store is different, but I found as often as I came around or as much as I bought, I immediately got offered my wishlist bag once I bought a necklace. Before then I believe I only got offered bags that were probably less desirable.

Why do you think it will take a year before your first bag comes in?

Hi! I just assumed it'll take a year because my first bag on order is B25, and reading some of the threads on tpf, it seems it takes a year? 6 months? On a customer status level, I'm low on the totem pole so I assumed it'll take longer....When do you think you'll get yours?
My problem is that I have a very long history at H store at my previous state I lived in (my SA linked it), but I never bought Bs or Ks because my mom gave me hers so I never had to buy them myself. I moved to a new state recently and with my mom passing away, I decided I need to get new ones for myself, so this is my first bag I'm getting on my own at a brand new store with a brand new lovely SA. All these years I didn't even know such system existed!
The watch I'm looking at is about the same price as one B, so I'm thinking I should wait to purchase it as soon as I get my first bag, OR I should buy it during new semester so that I meet my quota for my second wish list bag. What do you think? I'm leaning towards need to buy for this semester (starting July?) in order to get my 2nd wishlist bag ordered. I guess the tricky part is when you do receive the first bag, whatever history you built up for the next wishlist bag is going to get wiped out...
What is your thought on when to buy your watch? Sorry, for not being helpful....:crybaby:

Sorry to hear about your mom. [emoji120][emoji853]
I’m a little confused. Why is it better to buy a watch once you get the bag? Wouldn’t it be better to buy before you get a bag to up your chances or raise your status on the totem pole and help you get your b25 faster? Someone told me once you get the first bag the second one gets easier. But I don’t know because I haven’t asked for a second bag yet lol.

I got my b25 a few months after I asked for it, but I did get offered a b25 in some blue which I wasn’t interested in. It took me three months of shopping with the SA, then three months after I asked her for it that I got it. But in all fairness I was all over the place and wasn’t really sure what bag I wanted or when I wanted it. I first asked for a kelly 28 in etain which I got offered not too long after I asked. But then I changed my mind because it was not sellier. I’m sure she wasn’t too thrilled with me [emoji51]. So I went home and really thought about what I wanted and once I was sure it was a b25 in etoupe I asked her again and got it.

I might get the watch and more stuff next month. Just hoping to get a scarf and maybe a pair of shoes this month. I’ve been on the fence whether or not I should get anymore bags or spend my money on more VCA jewelry so I guess I’ve been taking my time at Hermes. The only thing is that I’m afraid if I stop shopping there, will I need to start up again on my spending. [emoji51] Everyone has a different view on that I guess since there are no rules [emoji85]

Thank you for your sharing your thoughts PaperbagPrincessD~ My thought was to spread the spending evenly, rather then spend it all in 1 semester and not enough on the subsequent semester. But just as you said, it makes total sense about climbing the status totem pole! I don't think I can keep sustaining higher totem pole status so....:huh:IMHO I've read some thread by other veteran tpf-ers that they shop every 2-3 months so I think you don't have to worry too much about frequency, as long as you hit the spending quota each semester.
So happy to hear that you didn't have to wait so long for your B! B25 in etoupe sounds lovely! I think you did the right thing in not getting the K and made sure what you really wanted! It sounds like you're already high up on the totem pole so you don't have to worry:smile: If you have a link to a photo of your lovely B, please let me know! Thank you again for sharing your thoughts! Really appreciate it!:flowers::flowers::heart:

I think it also depends on where you’re located. I’m in SF and the SA that I met a while back she said it didn’t really matter how much I spend, but the frequency is more important. I assume once I build a relationship with my SA for over a year hopefully I can come in less because it’s a little time consuming [emoji85] But I know everyone seems to have a different relationship/experience with their SA. My friends in Toronto (where I’m originally from) said it’s more so how much you spend than frequency. I’ve also heard of plenty of stories where people got offered b/k as soon as they decided to buy fine jewelry. Where are you located?

I wish I was high up in the totem pole, but I feel like SF people have so much money. It’s hard to compete. [emoji85] I was just at the store today and saw my SA giving her client a b25 in noir GHW. It was so dreamy. I finally decided to give her my wishlist for this semester. The customer she was helping before that left with a box too. Not sure what it was but the box looked like a b25[emoji87]

Do you have other items on your wishlist or just a b25?

I’m not sure where I posted my birkin, but here’s a pic of me wearing it. I’m so in love with the size [emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

Honestly frequency is all it is. If they see your once or twice a month and you drop a decent amount (subjective for everyone) you will get your dream bags in a matter of time. My relationship with my SA is about a year old and I already scored Enough Bs and one C I’m starting to feel the need to slow down. Yep. I can’t buy 2 quota bags every year. I urge anyone looking for a B or K to take their time building a relationship and only buy what you like

Oh my goodness! PaperbagPrincessD~ What a stunning photo! EVERYTHING about your photo is just BEAUTIFUL!:heart:Gorgeous you! the location! your B! your shoes!...Wow! :panic: Really appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me! And thank you for your GORGEOUS photo! Wow....! Something for me to aspire to~~(I can dream...)
Thank you Gigllee for your input! I think I'm overthinking and going around in circles. I think you're right about building relationship with my wonderful SA, and since my funds are limited, Frequency IS the way for me!
I LOVE this tpf forum! I learn so much from everyone! Thank you thank you PaperbagPrincessD and Gigllee!:flowers::flowers::heart:

I think I found a younger SA I jive better with and bought a bracelet through them last month.

I have my eye on another bracelet or two and want to work with them specifically to build a relationship (at this stage in my journey I am not ready for high wattage bags yet; but I observed that even non-high-wattage bags or accessories in specific colours can be hard to locate without relationship with an SA).
They gave me their e-mail address last month.

What's the proper way to ensure I work with them specifically for all my purchases?
Is it weird if I e-mail them to book a brief appt (even though I am only buying two bracelets)?

Do you experienced folks only book appts with your SAs when making a larger purchase?
Would SAs be annoyed if you book appt to buy "small" things like bracelets?
I already know the colours I want for the bracelets since I spotted the colours online, but I don't want to order them online.

Stop second-guessing/scheming; just be honest with this SA; ask if the SA would like to be contacted in advance to check if he/she might be in the store when you plan to visit and if that would make it easier for him or her to get the things you want.
Rather than trying to build a relationship (imo doomed to disaffection!) with one SA it might be better to develop a recognised presence in the store. **Then, when your favoured SA leaves, is ill, on holiday or ignores you, you will be better place to be a recognised client.

**Just read the sob stories on here to learn how often that happens.
