For advice on how to obtain a B/K/C please go to the reading room in the Reading Room The Newbie's HOW DO I GET A BIRKIN (or other bag) Reading Room

For advice on how to shop at your local store please do a search in Hermes Shopping sub-forum and look for your store/region/country.

Yes I saw that post, I would not be surprised if that Kelly bracelet was Fine Jewellery, but of course I could be wrong. I am just giving my advice based on what I am told by my SA who goes there during the Cannes festival and friends/ someone I know, who are local customers.

I met a girl a few weeks ago who told me she gets all her birkins and kellys when she travels. She says she outright just tells them that she wants a b/k and asks them what it will take/how much does she need to spend to get it. Do you think that may work or would the French SAs take offense to that?

Ooo dear. Where does she go, I think this generally would not go down well in Europe. JMHO. Very likely in Asia. It works like that in the near and far east. ;)

You should buy what you want, when you have the opportunity, where you want. Any further scheming will only lead to disappointment.
Wherever you may be, if your SA cannot understand that if you are in another part of the world you can save 1000s (that you might then be free to spend with them on commissionable items) they are not worth patronising with your trade.

... it was just a matter of should I cheat on my SA …

please - look at it for what it is
you are not is some form of romantic engagement
it is a trading relationship of convenience, however friendly you might become
the SA (or that store) gets the benefit of commission from you purchases
you are hoping to buy preferential treatment

I heard it happens in Europe, too, specifically the stores in Berlin and Venice, where they outright tell customers that they cannot purchase this or that bag if they don't buy some items first. And not even Birkins or Kellys; just for bags like the Bolide.

As much as I do love the cardigan, I kind of only would want to purchase one if I knew it would help me towards a bag. (I find any top that is $2.5k+ a little pricey) So although it is 1k more in the states, I know it helps with my profile. I don’t think buying a Lindy or a Constance helps as much as RTW when it comes to trying to get a b/k.

I am also planning on buying a Lindy or a Constance in France (if they have) or even getting some CDC bracelets to strike up a conversation with an SA. I wonder if it would make any difference with the possibility of scoring a bag if I bought the cardigan vs CDC bracelets or a Lindy/Constance. ‍♀️Any idea? [emoji846]
I would buy only from your home store and only what you love. It is my firm belief that H stores do not have a huge stock of B/Ks in their back room just waiting for the right customer. I believe they allocate their bags to specific customers as soon as the item reaches the store (or even beforehand in most cases, as soon as they see it's inbound). The SM can, of course, reroute the bag to a different customer should someone come in and drop 20k on a bracelet or something but in general, you'd have to spend quite a bit to snipe a bag. And then there is also the factor of how specific of a bag you are looking for. All this is to say, no matter how much money you drop at a vacation H store, they just might not have the item to sell you during the short duration of your visit. Instead, if you invest these purchases with your home SA, you have the benefit of time in your favor to wait for the perfect bag to arrive.

Lol she’s Chinese so I’ll assume she’s talking about Asia. I can see it working better in Asia.

Even a Bolide?? So am I going to look dumb walking into the store asking for any bag (not b/k) if I don’t purchase anything else?

I guess you’re right. Maybe I’ll just stock up and save on other brands and save my Hermes purchases for home store to continue building rapport.

What is your take on trying to buy a Lindy there? Or do you think I’ll have to prespend as well.

I actually witnessed a case in Venice back in January this year in the H temporary store (the original one was under reconstruction). I went in the store to exchange a twilly I got earlier that day and saw a young Chinese girl with her parents in the store. I don’t know how it started but she was presented a mini Constance and then afterwards the SA showed her many different things which she needs to hit the ‘amount’ so she can get the mini C. During my twilly exchange process she picked at least a Kelly wallet, a few pair of shoes and another bracelet. It’s the first time i see this happening in a H store to be honest.

I guess they do it because they could get away with it, and there are a lot of wealthy Chinese tourists traveling all year long. If one doesn't submit to the semi-extortion, there are plenty more whom they could play that game with.

I’m going to South of France this month and thinking of testing my luck getting a b/k since it’s a lot cheaper there. I hear RTW items help better the chances of getting a bag. The prefall long cardigans are 1k cheaper in France than in US. Should I buy the cardigan in France to try to get a bag or just get it from my current SA in the US to continue maintaining our relationship?

I think it is always better to be polite and direct. I have had much better luck just being honest and clear. Tell your SA as well as the one in France very kindly that you have a few items on your wish list, including the cardigan, and whatever else you want, but that you are looking to also buy a bag, and you prefer to get it all from the same place. Ask her, "if I were to buy these things here, do you have the bag available, or would it be better if I continue checking other stores?" You'll know right away where she stands. She will probably look at your list and mentally tally it up. If she feels it is worth it to make the sale, and her SM approves it, she will probably give you a bag if she has one available. If she simply doesn't have a bag, she will most likely tell you, or if she wants the sale, she may make some arrangements for you to come back another day.

Love that advice. I’m going to try that. Thanks. :)

Hoping someone can provide me some advice... I am based in Aus and i so far have gave up with H store shopping. I used to have a wonderful SA who would call me often and i would feel comfortable calling her we felt like friends and when i went to store we would sit and chat for ages. i enjoyed spending at H with her, she offered me a beautiful B25 that I bought after only 3months with her. But unfortunately after 6months she moved on to a office role at H and my new SA even though we get along she never calls i have to chase her then she also never responds now or calls back its been like that for 8months(she also had been at the store for 5yrs and is known to have alot of VIP clients on her books). After my last visit in Jan where i still felt neglected i then gave up and havent been back since (i did try reaching out by text calls email but no response to date) am thinking to just pop into the store and build a new relationship (however i spent 12k after quota bag with my SA before she left and 6k with the new one). I still havent built my enthusiasm to go back into store and try again in the meantime i have been using the preloved & reseller route . What would should i do? Would it be bad for my spending history since i spent 1.5:1 to swap again to a different SA? Or should i just wait patiently for a call? My old SA said they have a waitlist and im definitely on it for a B30 that was since Sept 2017 before she left. Feel a bit annoyed to continue spending because its not just about the items at H that i buy for me its the overall experience associated with the item; and im sure im not alone here. TIA [emoji17]

I think it's going to be difficult for many to give good advice since my understanding is that the Aus stores work so differently than other regions. Usually I would say that it's the end of a quota period so I would definitely go in before the end of the month (asap really) and work with whomever is available and see what happens. BUT since Aus works by waitlist...I'm not sure of the 'rules' Do all/most of the B/Ks get offered based on the list? Or does it work like the USA with the addition of maybe a bag a month going toward the list? If they mostly all go by order of the waitlist, then I would just...wait (or buy something very very small just to make an appearance). If it were a USA store, I would say, go in and find someone you like. The SM makes decisions for B/Ks and with $12k spent at his store, any SA should be able to make an easy case to the SM for you to be offered.
