Do you have any issues with losing items from the sections that do not zipper closed?
Also, are the items in those sections visible to others?
No, and not at all.

I don't like compartments. I don't like the way Phoebe looks like a pair of shorts open, I don't like the way it looks from the side. I would get the hobo. I think the single strap would be easier to deal with.
my vote is for hobo. I'm still trying to decide what color I want. that new chambray color is really pretty. I wanted the peach rose but it went on delete and now I don't see them anywhere.
If it helps, the peach rose is beautiful but the color rubs off very quickly and shows every imperfection. I had mine for less than two weeks and it had to be exchanged. There's something weird about the leather, like it's painted and not dyed. I haven't touched my new one because I'm terrified it will happen again. I love the style though. It's the perfect shape and size. I just wish it was the Bleecker pebbled leather and not painted.
I cannot stop thinking about this since you said it! LOLI don't like compartments. I don't like the way Phoebe looks like a pair of shorts open, I don't like the way it looks from the side. I would get the hobo. I think the single strap would be easier to deal with.
sorry! It's a disturbing image!I cannot stop thinking about this since you said it! LOL
So glad I found this thread (or, more acccurately, glad that Canderson22 linked me here from another thread)! I'm debating between the Phoebe and the hobo (Madison hobo, not Sullivan hobo). I've never had a bag with compartments and hesitate to have one because I'm very lazy and want to just be able to toss things in and get them out--I'd love to think I'd organize it all, but it wouldn't store that way and I think it'd annoy me to have to open different compartments to get stuff.
As to colors--I love silver hardware in general but I agree that the grey birch may not be as versatile as the tan (plus, I believe the hobo only comes in black, tan, the really dark brown, and silt I think? Any thoughts on silt? I can't decide if it's too brown or if it'd be able to go with black.
The tan hobo (and only the tan hobo) is on sale right now...I might the bullet and get it, unless I want to hold out for the silt. Does anyone own silt? Thanks!
PS - Does anyone think the hobo strap is too short? On Nordstrom it says there's a 3'' drop but that must be a mistake, right? Or maybe they're not accounting for the slouch? I want to be able to toss the bag over my shoulder, so it'd annoy me if it was a super short drop.
I have silt hobo and it's a very pretty, versatile color...I can't think of a color it wouldn't go with! The 3" drop is a mistake... not sure what it exactly is but I have no trouble wearing it on my shoulder and I don't have little twig arms! It sits really nice on the shoulder and holds as little or as much as you want...not heavy either. It's a great bag...she'll be a forever keeper and the silt is beautiful! Let us know what you decide!
The hobo is more casual looking imo but I use my hobo more since it has the extra strap for cross body option.
Thanks! Do you prefer silt to tan (if you've seen/owned tan)? I think silt has a richer look and would be easier to keep clean, but the tan is on a 33% sale right now and it does look very versatile.
That's my concern about the hobo..that it will be too casual! I typically like structured bags, but I want an everyday bag that I can grab and go, and bring from grocery shopping to a dinner out (not a fancy dinner out, just regular one). I'm worried the hobo is too slouchy and casual....ah, I wish I could just get them both in all colors!![]()
