Can anyone tell me is there any visually difference in workmanship for Chanel bags made in France versus made in Italy?

When it comes to Chanel, although workmanship may vary slightly from bag to bag, where the bag was made (France or Italy) is not a determining factor and it makes no difference whatsoever in workmanship and quality :smile1:

It doesn't really matter, to be honest. Because Italy and France are the top 2 premier designers hub and handbag makers (practically anything designer! From shoes, etc.) If it's about other brands though, I don't think getting a European designer bag would be nice if it's Made in the US or China (I'm not 100% sure if there are premier (or even contemporary) designers that have their goods made in China though :) Xx

I bought a 4 hole mini about a year ago (can't remember exact dates) that was made in France and a 2 hole mini last Feb that was made in Italy and you can see the vast difference in detail and quality.

The French mini (left) had buttery soft lambskin and perfect shape. The Italian mini (right) had tougher lambskin and uneven structure. This bag has NEVER been out on the floor and was fresh out of the box.

As I mentioned in another thread, the SA told me that the made in Italy bags are not so carefully packaged as the ones made in France, maybe the improper shipment contributed to the shape of the bag, but the leather quality is lower as well IMO.

Honestly, you can find little imperfections on workmanship of made in France bags just as much as you can on made in Italy bags :smile1: If you go through a lot of bags you will see. It is really a bag to bag thing - rather than where it was made. We cannot conclude by one comparison.. especially when the bags are different colors from different seasons. Some releases are softer or firmer than others even the same style. Chanel do have all these variations, even within their classic range, black caviar for example, the leather does vary and really it doesn't depend on where the bag was made. The leather could come from the same place and just varies depending on batch.

I seriously don't think that Chanel would allow their bags (whether from It or Fr) to be of lesser quality (france and italy are just really close).

My chanel shoes are made in Italy and the leather is BEAUTIFUL, my Louboutin shoes are from Italy and they're ALSO amazing, I don't own any made in italy bags (my chanels are made in france being located here)... but i'm pretty sure the craftmanship is just as good in france as it is in italy.
I would even say that tailoring wise, italians are probably better.

A big house like Chanel would not have their bags made in country if they thought the craftmanship was worst... seriously!

And as long as it's made by real people who know their job (whether in france or italy) you have good and bad, better or worst.

And seeing that Chanel expands to other european countries, I have to say i'm quite happy, it does create jobs for people in the rest of europe. They probably do so with the skins they buy, train the people and it's probably easier for them (saving on import export) than shipping everything to France to despatch later (sorry i'm that type of european citizen.)

Hi ladies,

After I saw many reviews I just notice that they are "Made in France." I don't see any classic bag Made in Italy like my jumbo(I bought from Saks) and rectangular mini.(from NM)

Is anything wrong with my bags for "Made in Italy" not France???
