To anyone that has received their replacement bag before returning the damaged one, when you return do you just give them the bag explaining that you've already received a replacement, or do they refund you for the old one and you'll be charged for the new one? I'm a little confused about how my return went.

Not sure about Macys but Lord and Taylor is refusing to send me another bag unless I pay for that one too. Then they will reimburse me back my money when they get the original damaged handbag back.

That's ridiculous. They sent me the new bag the same day I received the damaged one with no additional charge to my card. Lord & Taylor is basically saying they don't trust that you'll return the damaged merchandise? But we can't even trust them to send out a good bag!

I told her that Macys doesn't require that. It's not about money to me. It's the principle of it.

I told her I would call back tomorrow and speak to a manager and she advised me that the manager would say the same thing. She didnt even initially offer to exchange the bag. She only offered me a label for free shipping to return it. They don't care one whit about selling MK merchandise.

I'm going to find MK's twitter and tweet him a pic so he knows how poorly his retailer is handling his merchandise.

In contrast, this is how my Macy's order came shipped.

No scratches...packed very nicely in a big box.

I thought I would update my situation. I emailed Macy's and, in my anger, I guess I made it sound like I wanted to return both the clutch and the MK gloves that I had ordered. Macy's credited my card back immediately, before even sending out the return shipping labels (which, go to the individual store that sent the items, FYI). I thought that was nice, but they didn't really offer much else in regards to an apology or explanation. I will be sending the gloves back, because they were too big anyways and you could also definitely tell those were a return. I have decided to keep the clutch. Even thought I HATE that it has a scratch, I really have wanted that clutch for awhile and it appears they are all sold out. Macy's will recharge my card in 7-10 days for the clutch and also have said they will be sending a $15 gift card.

That's still no excuse to send the returned merchandise under (what I consider) the pretense of "new" but I am satisfied at least. I am sure the stores send out the returned merchandise so they won't be "stuck" with it. I really want a red or black Saffiano Hamilton, but I am really hesitant to buy from Macy's. I may just pay full price and buy it from the "man" himself (the MK website). :smile1: I should suck it up and go the MK store, but I really prefer online shopping as crowds give me anxiety.

I'm glad things have been worked out enough for you to be satisfied. I agree, there's no excuse for this practice that's becoming increasingly popular. And I'm definitely not shopping online with them anymore because I'm scared of what I'll end up with. It's less convenient but I'd rather be able to inspect what I buy before I pay for it now...
