I guess if they can get away with it then why wouldn't they? I don't buy bags to return them... I buy them because I plan to have them for a while, not just a weekend.

I think that if they're going to accept these kinds of returns then they need to be marked down accordingly and sold in-store only. Is that too much to ask, Macy's?

Wow we were just talking about this the other day! I cannot BELIEVE a large retailer like Macy's did this to you. Disappointment INDEED. They should have offered you a 50% vs 15%! Keep in touch with their customer service, I bet you you they will offer you more than 15% if they know the gravity of the situation.

My returns to Macy's of MK bags have still been wrapped and in plastic bags..too bad you couldn't have gotten one of those...

Seriously, I had one bag I thought was OK after I glued a magnetci snap back on (non-MK). today I was inspecting the shoulder straps and found a line of about 4 little pin holes. I will probably re-order and return the bum one. But it really sucks for items that sell out :(

I vote to order 2 of a bag you really want from Macy's in future to improve your chances of getting a decent one (at least, if you can easily return to a local macy's)

Yeah, I wasn't so lucky to receive an acceptable return. The only acceptable one would be one I couldn't tell had been returned... Ignorance is bliss lol
It's a shame to even have to resort to ordering everything in doubles just to make sure we get a good bag... They shouldn't be sending out sloppy seconds.
When I went to put it back in the box I noticed another weird spot on the front of the bag... it just gets better and better!

I know! While I was discovering everything wrong with the bag I immediately thought about that thread and that made me even more mad because it's happening to so many of us. At this point, I just want a perfect bag, and if the replacement isn't perfect then they're both going back to the store and I'll just have to find something there where I can get a good look at it.

I mean I GET that they're trying to cut costs but it's not like we're buying a $20 t-shirt or something of the like. When you're shelling out several hundred dollars for a designer item whether it's MK or Ferragamo I expect them to handle such products professionally.

They handled it with "macy's magic"

thats horrible!! ive always wondered what they did to returned bags? ive return a few in the past but i wouldnt want them to sell it back if it wasnt in tip top shape esp like that! i would def call macys corporate!

If bag is in excellent shape, they can resell it
Else they are supposed to "damage" it out and return to manufacturer.
Not sure why so much sub par merchandise is being put back in the selling floor. Costs probably.

There's no way they don't know better... I mean, I know returns are inevitable on all kinds of merchandise but doing this to us is wrong! Perhaps I will call corporate.

I understand they want to cut their costs but they can't cut corners like this, they'll start to lose customers. Or they'll turn off customers like me that do a lot of online shopping out of convenience. It's not convenient at all to receive a used and damaged item and have to wait on a replacement to be sent out (and hope that it's not a dud too!).

No offense to smokers but UGH... a lighter is a red flag! A smokers bags isn't something I'd want, even in nice condition. Nonsmokers SMELL it

This was one of the first thoughts in my head!!! I didn't smell any smoke though, the bag still has that brand new, leather smell. But someone took it out for more than a test drive and left a souvenir for me. I just can't have that.

Totally agree!

Wow I'm very shocked. I don't have a Macy's near me, but I've always believed them to be a prestigious, ritzi store. Wow!

Most of the Macy's around me aren't really that nice. I have to say that not all large retailers do this though, Nordstrom's has always been wonderful to order online from. Everything comes neatly packaged in the original packaging. Also, I'm not sure if most of you know this but Bloomingdales & Macy's are owned by the same parent company- I've ordered items from Bloomie's and noticed they were sent to me from other stores. I ordered a $200 pair of AG Jeans from Bloomie's online and it was sent to me from one of their stores on the East Coast- I had no idea if they had been returned/used/tried on. :thinkin::sneaky:

I don't think they're living up to their reputation any longer.
I've sent out multiple emails to various addresses they have listed online about my poor online shopping experience. They also have a couple corporate addresses that I will be sending letters to. At this point, maybe I'll just have to save up more and pay full price for the designer bags at the boutiques. I'm not sure that the discount is worth the trouble.

Same here... And the selection of MK Bags and wallets at the two Macy's that are closest to me is never that good. I'll have to keep Nordstrom in mind for future online purchases. There isn't one near me unfortunately.
