I'm in the same boat. I've spent a lot of money and have had 2 great relationships with SAs (one left and I found a new one). He's great in giving me extra dust bags, selling me clochettes (since my store won't do that), etc... but I don't ever get gifts. It makes me a little nuts, actually. I get catalogues, but that's it. My SA talk about all kinds of personal stuff and have fun when I am there... he and my mom even pal around! I don't think there is anything else that I can possibly do.

It's random, unfortunately. Depends on the SA and what you're buying, I guess.

I've never received a VIP gift either. It would be very nice, but I don't expect it because I'm there to purchase the item(s) I'm interested in and enjoy the experience. I think if I would expect a gift every time I went in, it would ruin the wonderful experience for me. If I get a gift someday I'll be over the moon - but I'm happy in any case. Last time I had a glass of champagne, so that felt very special. My SA was very helpful and friendly and it was a joy to shop there.

The only thing I've ever received from LV was a e-mail which was titled: "After your visit..." and I was very excited because I thought it would be an invitation to some kind of event. But no. They wanted to receive feedback. I did take the survey though.

LOL...I got one of those once, too. I don't really care that much about a VIP gift. I wouldn't mind getting a catalog or a glass of champagne when I visit, though...:graucho:

I have VIP status at my store, I shop exclusively with one SA, and I buy ready to wear and accessories each season. I pay for most of my husbands purchases- so it boosts my 'spending' (he pays me back!). I have only had a couple of coffee table books, but my husband got given a VIP minature trunk. Go figure!!! I get the impression we're going up the gift ladder.

I think my VIP status is more due to me getting on with my SA, and regularly buying items throughout the year than spending huge amounts, although I do spend a reasonable amount. I get champagne and snacks on every visit, and great service, including my SA sourcing hard to get items, and letting me know when items she knows I will love come in to the store, which is much more important to me than a globe! She did tell me once, that LV values customers that appreciate the brand, its not soley about who spends the most (Im sure that helps though!)

I did recently visit a store in another country and was given champagne and VIP treatment after they saw my haute maroquinaire bag, and checked my spending history.

I would suggest finding a SA you click with, and buy everything from them. This would help your status with your local store.

It's not how much you spend...In my opinion, it's who you know. You have to build a relationship with one person and eventually....it may come.

I just got one last yr for the first time and I've shopped...and spent boat loads for years. I uses to purchase everything over the phone from a nearby store because there were none local. Two yrs ago they built a store in my area (probably based on my spending LOL) and my Coach SA moved over to LV in the mall. I got my first last yr but I get invited to store events all the time and I have a good relationship with many of the staff

This has been my experience as well. I've been shopping with my fav SA for a couple of years. She happened to send me the Mariage Frères tea...but honestly we had talked at length about our common interest in teas the week before, so I think it had little to do with my purchase history. Honestly, I much more enjoy the hot chocolate and iced tea she brings out while we drool over new LV items!

I haven't spent much at LV and bought every item from different stores so...

The VIP gift thing does make me confused. As a company I think they have quite a strict code for their employees. Of course some SAs seem to be doing things for their clients that others would decline on doing but I think they're still following the rules/guidelines set on corporate level. Perhaps it's not the same everywhere but for example at Louis Vuitton in Helsinki a lot has to go through France according to the SA there I spoke with. But my point was that I'd be a little surprised if they didn't have any code for choosing the clients who will get VIP gifts. I personally don't think it's that much up to the SAs who'll get a VIP gift.

Exactly, my SA and I talk about my kids, her vacations.....it's much more than Just LV. I send her emails whenever I want her to look for something, she gives me a heads up when something is coming out...or in store that she thinks I will like.

We have a great relationship and when I actually got my gift, I had only spent $200....on that visit :/

Who is your favourite SA in LV Helsinki? Are you a regular?

No, I'm not a regular. I've visited the store only twice. I can't remember her name but as I got my wallet replaced I was assisted by a very nice lady. She was blond and older than the other staff members I guess. I've never had such a nice SA anywhere, she was awesome and so polite and considerate. Am I to visit LV Helsinki again I definitelly want to be her customer.

I'm not sure where I stand here, but a couple of weeks before my birthday, my SA called me and offered up the VIP room for my visit. (She obviously knew me well enough that I would be making a visit to LV on my birthday & she was right!)

I have to admit, I've done a ton of purchasing since October 2012. Bags, SLG's, etc.. Now I've moved into the fine jewelry and ready to wear.

In the VIP room there was champagne, little treats, and sweet treats. That was really nice. My best friend and I really enjoyed it.

She even showed me the Pallas that's being released August 1st. I LVoed it, but I ended up with a F/W coat. I'm over the moon about that coat. It was made for me.

However, no VIP or VIC gift. I was really hoping for one.

Oh well, I now have her cell phone number and to me that's priceless! :yahoo:

Cheers, drspock7 ;) It is wonderful that you can just chat with your SA about life in general, without pressure to buy. Of course, we always appreciate your intel/updates about new and exciting LV pieces to look forward to! :flowers:

I am really new to LV so cannot comment on VIP status etc. I was buying a ton of Coach and Coach Preferred Customer Status is pretty easy to get. However, I would hear stories about people on TPF getting $50 gift cards from their SAs. I worked exclusively with one SA and he left, I heard they fought over who would work with me after. Then worked with SA #2 for about 2 years, bought a ton of the higher end bags, never got the $50 gift card which I always thought was simply a way to entice you to shop if you hadn't for a long time. Then I went in one time when my SA was not working and bought 3 bags. A week later I get the $50 gift card from the SA who sold me the 3 bags and I had never seen ever before. Go figure.
