LV VIP Criteria

I've spent what I consider to be a reasonable amount with LV, though I'm by no means what they would consider a VIP. I've seen people with seemingly smaller collections than mine post about receiving gifts, but I mostly shop online because it's more convenient for me so though I know some of the staff at my nearest store, I don't really have a regular SA.

I've never had a thank you card either. I find the idea of that a bit odd - not that it isn't a nice gesture but I've shopped in many different high end stores, and it is something I've never experienced, nor have I heard of anyone else experiencing, other than fellow tPFers.

I find that the items I order online arrive in pristine condition versus many of the items I've been presented with in stores which look as if many people have already handled them/tried them out in store - plus the location of the only boutique in the country is not in close proximity to my home - so I'm okay with not receiving 'VIP gifts' presumably because I don't often shop in store.

The catalogues are another matter, however. I fail to understand why I don't receive all the catalogues. I've most definitely been a regular enough client and one who has spent enough money to qualify for a regular catalogue!

There is no set amount as it is discretionary, but there are rumors confirmed by reliable sources that spending $25,000 at LV usually gets you noticed. You can have any SA pull your purchase history to check your total spending. But it's best to stay loyal to one SA. A VIP gift is wonderful but the personal attention and the experiences they can set up when you visit other LV locations is priceless.

Yes, for a luxury store they sure scrimp on free stuff. A catalogue once in a while would be nice for all the $$$ you spend. Besides, catalogues will make you spend more on LV eventually if you find anything good.

I've spent a fair amount of money probably not as much as most but a fair amount for me and just recently received a catalogue through the mail, my first ever. I guess LV want me to come off ban island since I haven't brought anything for about a year

Well said!!! It would be a nice touch to get a VIP gift, but the personal attention and great experience with the SA you really like and trust is way more important.

It's not how much you spend...In my opinion, it's who you know. You have to build a relationship with one person and eventually....it may come.

I just got one last yr for the first time and I've shopped...and spent boat loads for years. I uses to purchase everything over the phone from a nearby store because there were none local. Two yrs ago they built a store in my area (probably based on my spending LOL) and my Coach SA moved over to LV in the mall. I got my first last yr but I get invited to store events all the time and I have a good relationship with many of the staff

I get catalogs, store event invites & the occasional thank you card. I shop at 3 different locations and use whatever SA is available so I never expected a VIP gift.

The one and only VIP gift I received (a purse hook) was when I went into a store to try on bags, I never bought anything, I never saw that SA before & she never asked my name to pull up my buying history. We had a lovely chat about LV, what I liked and didn't like in a purse etc. When I was leaving she handed me the gift and said it was a thank you for being a LV fan.

Just out of curiosity what is the gift? I've bought a couple things this year and now when this one SA see's me come it she's pretty eager to great me. I've already said there's another bag I want and will probably buy in the fall. BTW years ago, in another life, I use to manage a high end French boutique, Charles Jourdan for those who remember when those were the shoes to have. It was in the 80's when the dollar was good and it was nothing for people to come in and spend thousand per season on their shoe and accessory wardrobe. Anyway, my employes were required to send thank you notes for every purchase. I think overall the quality of treatment by SA's has gone down. I think some think it makes their product more high end if they act snooty. Which is just not right. Nobody should have to work to get a SA to treat you right, they should work to get their commission off you!

It does seem rather spotty in regard to who receives gifts and who doesn't. Same goes for the thank you cards. I have received a thank you card in the mail, and one thank you email. They were from two different SAs in two different stores in two different states. The only thing the two had in common were that they were both male SAs. I've never had a female SA thank me in any way. Ironically enough, the two thank you's were for the two least expensive purchases I've made!

It can be difficult to build a "relationship" with an SA if you don't have an LV boutique near where you live and you can buy from them on a regular basis. I have to drive 2-3 hours to get to any LV store, so I tend to make my purchases when I'm traveling. I've had mixed experiences with SAs. Most of them have been very nice, but I've also had experiences with them where I've felt ignored and brushed off. If I walk into a store, whether it's LV or any other store and feel like I'm being ignored or the SAs are snooty, believe me I won't buy anything there for sure. Other times, I've told them I'm just there to look and they couldn't have been more helpful and friendly...showing me items and letting me try on bags. So I think it also depends on the SAs to be honest.

I also feel like people who buy the majority of their purchases online don't stand a good chance of becoming a VIP because there won't be an SA to work with.

Funny how everyone has had different experiences. I think the SA I like to deal with keeps a list of her customers so that will also be reflected. When I first met her I brought in my cherry key pouch for repair, she was so wonderful that I emailed LV directly with praise. I think she was informed of this compliment. When I saw her last I bought the Epi cosmetic bag and since then I've received a thank you card, post card to check out the new summer collection, and an invite to attend the accessories event back in May. I think it really depends on how much the SA wants to market themselves and if they really enjoy working at LV. After all it is a customer service position and there are SA's who are just not cut out for it.
