1896: Georges designs the Monogram Canvas. Its graphic symbols (including the quatrefoils and flowers) are based on the trend of using Japanese and Oriental designs in the late Victorian era. This can be considered the first contemporary designer logo, as Georges is driven to create the pattern to prevent counterfeiting, which has already begun. (gotta love wikipedia!!!

The Speedy was initially created for Audrey Hepburn.

Alma was created specifically for Coco Chanel, however, because her name was already trademarked, LV couldn't name the iconic bag in her honor.

Reade is pronounced as "reed".

Trousse is pronounced as "truce".

Houston is pronounced as "Eau-stawn".

I'm somewhat French and I'd pronounce Trousse basically the same as 'truce' except that the R MUST be uvular (a hard, rolled R from the back of the mouth); and Houston as either the american pronunciation or in French it'd be "oo-stohn" (nasalization on the N and stress on 2nd syllable)

Some continental French dialects (ie in France) may have small variations, however the above is the standard Quebec (Canada) French

In 2005 Louis Vuitton has won its trademark infringement fight with Google! A court in Paris ruled that Google was guilty of tradement counterfeiting, unfair competition, and misleading advertising and ordered to pay up. The suit stems from handbag manufacturer Louis Vuitton accusing Google of selling advertising on it's site (Ad-Sense)that used the name Louis Vuitton to trigger ads that were not for genuine Louis Vuitton bags.

- The first LV canvas was in 1854 and called the Trianon canvas (plain grey)

-The Damier canvas was originally brought out in 1888 and again in 1996

- In 1890, the tumblers for the trunk locks were put together in in a metal case which allowed for multiple combinations. (This was done b/c rich tourists in this day carrying essentials such as jewelry, bank infor etc. and faced robbers and theives along their way) The LV locks were made to be "unpickable"
