hmmm I was starting to think that canadians always had to pay custom...who was the seller with whom you didn't pay any custom? I might check them out :)

ohh nice, the next bag I want is a petit Noé too :D in yellow. I'm planing on getting on a the end of the months, however so far I bought two bags and I had to pay customs everytime :(

I got them from HelloVintage. Also if they are less than 100$ you don't typically pay. i have only paid for two of mine thus far and i have purchased at least 6 items.

They all ranged from 60$ - 220$

ohh I see, I usually bought for around 120-150 USD which amounts to a little over 200 CAD here and paid customs each time. but wha you got are good prices :O impressive

I actually got a Keepall 55 in amazing condition for 200$ CDN because it was not properly listed ( showing a product that was already sold) so they were nice enough to give me the amazing bag even though it wasnt the right bag if you know what i mean. I also got great deals in auction.

wahh in my DREAMS :p:amuse: I'll keep looking, I might get a deal like yours!

Nice! You're lucky, I wish I could go back :') also, I wonder if the prices differ form city to city. The mall I saw was while in I was staying I Osaka, but I wonder if it's more expensive in Tokyo. Anyway, keep us posted on your trip and enjoy

So I just came back..

Little tips on anyone buying from Japan/visiting Japan. I feel like that definitely prices are better on eBay but also it's more of a gamble. So far I've been happy with my purchases and conditions were better than expected. But at the stores they seemed to be in even better conditions(especially epi line) with of course prices to show for it. SLGs were NOT worth it I feel like. They were only around $50 or so cheaper, for CAD. And for that why not just go brand new. Definitely lot of people carried LV. While getting in we saw two young Japanese girls with vintagey looking LV going to upstairs to browse as well. Stores are also popular amongst tourists. Interesting enough Brand-off from Ebay had store fronts, two in one long shopping district. One store in particular had all Chinese speaking staff. Some bigger stores were like Birkin museum with glassed off cases and even the rare ostrich skin one. Brand-off in particular had a sales corner... Where bags of LV were just piles carelessly with discounted price and needs bit of work. They were more along the lines of 200+ yen. PILES and PILES of LV. It wasn't just big cities though. Even smaller cities had pawn shops advertising Birkins, Kellys, LVs, Chanels(mostly). But selections weren't as good, prices weren't as good.
By this point of my trip I was running low on cash and had to glance at patience of my bf but it was something to see.. I would definitely save some cash for it next time as they would give you tax free(cheaper than shown on tag) and no duty pay from online purchase/postage. Sorry for a bit of a ramble.. It was 14hour trip back..

Oh, interesting bit.. After gate check at Narita, Tokyo, they had a glass cases displaying real vs counterfeit bag. I guess they're trying to fight/discourage?

So far i have nothing but good things to say about all of my Bags. i think as long as you're okay with small imperfections it's all good. i bought a bronze thompson street that's essentially brand new looking except it had a rip on the inside and honestly, you can't see it... it makes no difference to the bag and people always are complimenting me on it. I don't mind imperfections of a vintage bag. Also Japanese sellers i find very reliable

Welcome back  hope you had a bon voyage! your post is interesting, I heard brandoff had a shop so I'll try to visit them next time I'm around (maybe next year). The small mall I visited was similar to the more expensive kind then, since everything was behing glass (and I recall the prices were so so...) :noworry:
and yes Japan is really heavy on pushing this idea of not counterfeiting with not even letting us get aways with our country's taxe:hrmm:(I live in Canada too and the taxes are............yeah)
even if it's more than a gamble (because no matter what people say, biding can get you such discounts on ebay, it's insane, you get a bag for 185 USD and everywhere else it retails between 300 to 700 USD depending on the condition.) I will also try to see what I can find there :D do you mind telling us what you got?

I'm not having any jet lag, but just major fatigue. My last three days were a killer and I had connecting flight. Canada sucks for buying luxury goods or international shopping/mailing/duties. But in general I think our country is taxing us to death on ANYTHING and Everything.. With new trade deal with Europe I'm hoping prices will drop on luxury goods...

I didn't get anything this time as my cash was running low and right before I left, I actually purchased pochette accesoire mini by a mistake. I thought it was a regular pochette accesoire. Plus shopping was testing my sweet bf's patience, so I decided against it. Way I see it, I can still find deals on eBay, I can buy first and show bf later, and what I was trying to find(Chanel carmelia coin purse) was not available.

Little story/warning on buying things on eBay to Canadians though... I bought my mini pochette a month before my departure thinking it will be shipped quickly like my other purchases from Japan and that I can use it during travel. But the item came to me on day before my flight and I could only pick up my parcel AFTER my flight hour. I had to have one of my friend pick it up for me and to give it to me when we meet up in Japan. So yes, I am aware of the irony of buying from Japan to have it end up getting picked up from Japan after it came to Canada. Canadian border services is having some major problems right now, so anyone ordering from Japan may or may not have same issue. Even if seller states maximum 7 days, I would give at least little over 1 month time so please be patient with sellers. I've loved all my sellers and they were incredibly sweet people.

I JUST received my purchase from i-love-kawaii. It did come in a shipping envelope but it wasn't damaged. I bought a LV Flânerie 45 & she is beautiful. There's a slight smokey smell but that doesn't bother me too much.

Hi, well regarding canadian customs, I bought two items so far and both of them came within 3 or 4 days max. So time is not an issue in itself, moreso than taxes since I had to pay border fees each time (Japanese sellers always put the real price of the items...:noworry:). I know that some people use an inland japanese service to whom you can ship and they later on ship it to you. I never used that (I sometimes buy from rakuten, and shipping is usually 20-30$ no matter what I buy), but in the case of purses with high prices like we're buying, I'm startinf to think that it might be usefull if they can intercept the package and ship it to canada as a 'gift', and thus have me avoid border fees . anyone ever thought of that?

They won't do that as it is against the law for them to write gift on a package that is actually a purchase. If they do and get caught it's a huge fine. Sometimes they will actually write that in the description of the item i guess because people ask all the time. I have purchased from a few buyers who have lowered the price on the box so i had to pay less tax than usual, but this was just a curtesy and i didn't ask for it. The taxes on Canada are terrible fml

So... my purchase from Japan through eBay has been sitting in New York (I'm assuming customs) for 4 days now. I have purchased before (twice) and it didn't lingered this long at the Customs office. Is this normal?

A girl just wants her bag already, ya know? Lol. :girlsigh:

I am looking at some preloved items on ebay from Japan... how did it work with customs? Do you pay more/extra when you finally get it? And if so, how and where did you pay the extra? At the post office? Online? Thanks!
