I am looking at some preloved items on ebay from Japan... how did it work with customs? Do you pay more/extra when you finally get it? And if so, how and where did you pay the extra? At the post office? Online? Thanks!

You pay when it is delivered at the post office. It sometimes doesn't have duties on it but if it's over 200$ it definitely will. Usually it's about 30% of the purchase cost.

Hi! the custom fees are the sales taxes of where you live. (Where I live it's around 15%.) The sellers usually have a description of whom they use to ship their items (usually EMS), if you're from a country they ship often too they might have the name in the description of the item by countries or regions (so for me they'll say they use EMS in Japan and CanadaPost in Canada). when the item arrives it'll require a signature and there you'll have to pay the extra fees. Some of the posters here have said they sometimes had to pay sometimes not, so I think the package are randomly selected for taxes/ custom fees. (I have seen canadian and american posters say this). Also, if the package arrives but you're not home, they'll leave you an paper saying where you have to pick it up, then you'll have to pay the extra fees.

here the seller talks about using EMS to ship their items. check their 'IMPORTANT NOTICE' section, they explain the fees and how you might be able to calculate them.

Hi, well regarding canadian customs, I bought two items so far and both of them came within 3 or 4 days max. So time is not an issue in itself, moreso than taxes since I had to pay border fees each time (Japanese sellers always put the real price of the items...:noworry:). I know that some people use an inland japanese service to whom you can ship and they later on ship it to you. I never used that (I sometimes buy from rakuten, and shipping is usually 20-30$ no matter what I buy), but in the case of purses with high prices like we're buying, I'm startinf to think that it might be usefull if they can intercept the package and ship it to canada as a 'gift', and thus have me avoid border fees . anyone ever thought of that?

Maybe it's just where I live? :(
I just ordered another item. But I won't need for travels so I'm not in a huge rush.. Plus my last interaction with the seller was great so here's hoping for the best.. :)

Yes, actually I was thinking about that, the sales taxes where I live are high (if not the highest in the country). I'm guessing this might explain a few things

IMG_4219.JPG Hi I need opinions on my 2 pre-loved multicolor white speedys.... I purchased one that has vibrant colors on the front but darkened vachetta... and then I purchased another one ( for $100 less) thinking it was in better shape because the vachetta is lighter... When I got the second one I noticed that the front colors were lighter and the front pocket was jammed and did not work ( but that doesnt bother me because I woulndt use it).... My issue is... Which one should I keep? My gut it telling me to go with 1 the one on the left with the vibrant darker colors... What does everyone think!!!?? I need to sell the other bag asap!

I realized that the 2 pics don't do any justice lol... But in person you can clearly see the first one is more patinaed than the second... I also feel like in person the second one has a yellow tint to it... The first one is very white and vibrant... And it also kind of bothers me that the pocket doesn't work :/ Ahhh What should I doooo!!!!

The one with the working pocket? :o I know it doesn't bother you but if you want to sell it one day you might want to kepp that one.
Everything is going to patina anyway :coolio:

I received two bags from the seller 'next-novation' yesterday, I'm going to pick them up tonight. the invoiced said that the fees where 189$ (CAD) :noworry: and both bags were a little over 700$ together. I think I'll wait until I get to Japan again :lol: ebay prices are nice, but CAD is so low that it's not helping me.
