LV and the quality

I'm sure they don't make 'em like this anymore! I wonder if any of my pieces could stand up to time and freezing ocean like this...

"The 1985's discovery of the Titanic shipwreck demonstrated to the world that Louis Vuitton suitcases even survived the gigantic ship. I would rather to send you to the shore where crowds of people witnessed the whole course of the Titanic scraps of steel being dragged if you keep doubting. They just couldn't believe their eyes. Why the hell there was a wet but complete Louis Vuitton luggage among the rest out-of-all-recognition heaps? They turned more astonished when the luggage was opened and show a panorama of all the inside objects in perfect condition. This is Louis Vuitton quality and promise till the end of all the five oceans."

I think the quality has diminshed for sure..but compared to other designer bags out there..its superior!!! For the same money spent..my bet is always on LV for longevity!!!!

I haven't had any vintage LV's but i have several wallets and purses from 2 lines about 2-3 years old - multicolor and vernis and i think the quality is outstanding

i´m afraid i do. the nf is known for its piping and poor straps.the last speedy i bought only a few weeks back has the canvas all flimsy.the piping thin and the interiour all shiny, the zipper feels cheap.they were made a lot better two years back.sorry to say that they are now not worth their money, i do not think they will last for 20 yrs. like they used to.even if one buys a bag that is upper scale, the amount of people complaining having to have repairs done is shocking.i mentioned to my sa about the quality going down and she totaly agreed.as she has been with lv for over 20 yrs she could confirm that they are no longer made to last a life time.eventhough i have not had bad experiences myself, (speedy damier strap cracking and the nf issues) sadly, as much as i realy do love lv, i must admit i am starting to sway away. its one thing paying for the addiction but at some point sensce ticks in. :crybaby:

First time poster here.

I received a Multiple in Damier Graphite from my girlfriend for Christmas and after spending some time reading about LV and how all of their pieces are pretty much symmetrical I took a look at my wallet and noticed that the left side is longer than the right side!

It's an authentic piece purchased from LV.com and I'm genuinely surprised that they missed such an obvious defect.

yes you will. especially if you try the comparison it on the same exact item, apple for apple (provided the item you bought in 2003 was not seasonal and still available today, in 2011).

case in point I go into the LV store in arm with an atoll organizer from 2003, and pick up an atoll organizer (same color) from 2010. I am appalled at the cheaper materials used! thinner leather handles, the taiga leather doesnt feel so luxurious, and the hardware looks and feels cheap!

The overall decline of goods is just ridiculous

Do u feel we can still expect our lv items specifically the canvas lines to standup to several yrs of use? Is the quality still better then coach or mk? I dropped coach bc of insane ecreases in qulityd

I think that it depends on the bag. My Tivoli PM is a beautifully and quality-made bag. I cannot speak that for all of the bags LV makes. Some bags and items are still made to last, others are made to be in a customer's budget. I think that LV has compromised profit for quality, as have most luxury brands.

that's not a defect.

LV allows for asymmetry upto 3 mm. Yours is perfectly fine.

I think he's saying that the block pattern on the ends is not equal. I would tend to think that both sides should be cut off at the ends of the squares. It would just look neat and clean. There may be a valid reason the size is what it is, but... I'm just a newbee here and to LV.

i guess they make more money this way! items spoil and then have to be either repaired or replaced, both of which meas more money for them! so they probably finally decided making goods of such superior quality was not doing anything for them.
haha.

I guess it depends on the item? My new Sarah wallet is impeccable (Made in Spain) and feels even sturdier than my Ludlow which I bought in 2007. The Ludlow held up pretty well but the varnish edging cracked after a couple of months. The Sarah seems to be holding up better already (both in Mono).

As far as Speedies go, I find the most perfect of my 5 speedies is my Mono 30 purchased in Paris MIF. The alignment is perfect, the handles are perfectly shaped and the stitching is perfect. My Azur 35 (MIF) purchased in Milano turned honey patina withing about 2 months! At the end of the day, they are handmade goods and there will be some slight variation ;)

I didn't even read your post 1st and I saw the extra 1/2 row of squares on the left, that stinks, I would not be happy. Luxury to me means perfection, and that is not it imo.
