LV and the quality

I have only been buying LV for 6 and a half years so I haven't noticed a decrease in quality. I have never had any problems with my LVs. The only thing I can say is that the white paint faded very slightly in some parts on my White Multicolore Mini HL. That is all. Other wise my other 24 pieces are in perfect condition :smile1:

WOW I cannot believe a SA would admit to something like that! I mean at least she was honest? But that doesn't do anything good for the company, I'm sure there were a couple people in there who over heard and were quite shocked just like you were!

Hi everyone,
I was wondering about the quality of Louis Vuitton bags, and particularly the LV Speedy. I have never owned anything from LV but have a couple friends who have. I understand there have been problems with newer Neverfulls (the straps apparently aren't that sturdy?) but I am looking into the Damier Ebene Speedy 30. If I purchase this bag, it will be for mostly everyday, if not everyday. I read on a different forum on here that the quality has gone down throughout the years, especially after the LV family stopped running the company, but is the quality worth the money? Should I go with a good condition vintage bag? I really wanted a brand new Damier Speedy. I want this bag to be something that lasts for decades (I take very good care of my bags) and I was just hoping to get some thoughts and feedback.
Thanks!!

I got my first Louis Vuitton at Valentines Day, a Mono Speedy 30, I TOTALLY LOVE IT ! I also ending up buying a small zippy wallet, Key holder, luggage tag & Charm to hang on my bag. I wanted a Speedy for like 2 years and usually purchased Coach bags, which I purchased about 1 a month, and always ended up hating them, so they were sold or returned. But this Speedy, I cannot even tell you how great the quality is, fantastic. I also ended up purchasing the Hippy-Gal shaper, love the pockets and I do like the boxy shape of the look of luggage too and the shaper helps with that also. This is the first time that I haven't fell out of love with a handbag, personally this is the best handbag I have ever purchased and I'm alot older sooo, you can imagine all the handbags I've been through ;) I use my bag everyday, I'm not much of a wasteful person, so I do only have one handbag, and I LOVE IT, which is rare for me, my husband is surprised that I haven't sold it by now, but I plan on using this bag for years. I am in love ;) So go ahead and get your new handbag, I know you'll be happy and probably never wanna put it down ;) But be careful cuz your gonna want some accessories too ;) Oh, also I purchased all of my items online at the Louis Vuitton website, fantastic customer service, as I called it seems a million times with questions before and after my purchases.

I have the Damier Ebene 30 and it's my everyday bag. It's been through a lot and I bought it in 2008. Majority of my LVs are in the Damier Ebene pattern and it still looks new and not abused.

Thanks everyone so much! I'm thinking I'll be able to afford one this summer, I was just worried because of what I've heard about other bags and the quality going down within recent years (and things being mass produced, etc.)

I had an LV speedy 25 and decided to buy the Speedy 30 and glad I did. I have had it since 2005 and use it everyday. I have a couple of Dooneys and have used them exactly twice but LOVE my Speedy 30. It has held up exceptionally well and I'm not easy on my bag. Quality is great so don't be worried.

Some people say it started in 2007 with the merger (LVMH). I know the piping on my Speedy from 2004 is thicker then my post 2007 bags. And the canvas on my Alto circa 2000 is WAY thicker on any of my post 2007 bags. I'd say it's even thicker then my 2004 Speedy.

Hi! I have two Ebene Speedys but I tend to rotate them with my other bags --so no problems. I know other pfers have had problems because with the ebene bags --the vachetta is coated and that's what peels. That's why you may see some wrinkles on your handles or whatever. My Speedy 30 has wrinkles but I haven't had any problems. I've heard of many problems with NF handles peeling and cracking so you may want to get a mono NF over that one.

I think the Damier Speedy is a wonderful bag and I have been buying LVs since the mid-1970s. My Damier Speedy has been used and abused for years (and used a lot!) and still looks brand new. It's a wonderful bag.
