You have a good CA. Mine is all about transaction. She just does business and doesn't give me holiday packaging, I don't think she will give me Kusama packaging, never mind macarons either.

I don't know why she's like that. I have a solid LV shopping record "worldwide".

But say, when I walk into Chanel, even though I hadn't purchased anything for a long time, the different CAs always treat me very kindly and offers me snacks and beverages. Same kindness from Cartier too.

Hmmm....after this I'm changing LV CA.
I don’t think she can choose not to give you Kusama packaging as it should comes with your Kusama item. Definitely ask for it if it’s not provided.

I'm sorry to hear that your LV CA is not good to you. All CAs are not created equal. I hope your next one is better.

Does anyone know if the Kusama Marellini is an Asia exclusive or will it be available in North America?

I just picked up the Marellini and I love it! I think I read it somewhere that it will be included in the second drop? I usually don’t follow the news so I’m sorry if I am wrong.

I love the little coin pouch that is attached to the bag! It’s pretty big so it will hold my keys Here are some photos in case you want to see a different angle from LV site. It has a removable shoulder strap and shorter handle. Shorter handle has polka dots (sorry it’s hard to see in the photo!). If you are thinking about getting the bag, I highly recommend it!!

It’s adorable and the pumpkin coin purse is so cute. Enjoy

Noooo way the pumpkin is a pouch! It's freaking adorable! With that pumpkin, I think it can slightly justify the price of the mini bag!

I agree. I had no idea the pumpkin is a pouch too. That adds value. And that white tag, is that a luggage tag? Or maybe it hold a card or two?
The white tag is actually attached to a mirror. I bought the bag in Japan so with tax free and USD exchange rate, it came out to be about $2,600. I thought it was a great price considering the increase we have seen recently!

@brnicutie you better visit the store again? :D

I don't understand why they didn't make the flowers the main focus. I think Kusama fans would love them and non-fans would still find them intriguing. If carefully done you might even entice in some of the more conservative buyers who don't like 'loud' bags. I read somewhere the multicoloured dots series is based around a trunk she painted for LV with those dots, but it seems people who don't know her work think it looks like a child's art project and even those of us who do don't find the style "iconic Kusama."

I'm curious if anyone who doesn't know/like Kusama is buying the pieces. The last time I was chasing down a collection was Loewe's Spirited Away collab, and I remember watching a bag review by someone who didn't know who the characters were. I thought it was so weird you'd buy having never seen the film. I guess it's less weird with art because you only need to look at it to discover you like that artist. I'd never buy a movie collab item if I didn't know the film because what if I hated it or the character I chose?!
I really don’t like how many multicolored painted dot pieces there are. I think from an homage perspective, it’s worth making some pieces. But I think it also takes away the “specialness” of the original. Some things should be kept as they are, not copied for a quick buck, I think.

My art and design opinion, I just don’t think the painted dots look good on most of the pieces. The original trunk has better harmony and balance. The original trunk doesn’t have equally spaced dots, allowing for better visual interest and movement. The painted dots for this collection are evenly spaced, lending to a more rigid look and feel. I’m not getting the same resolution, as I do with the original trunk. The number of dots per piece tends to be lacking too. Kusama’s work has a good sense of repetition, rhythm, and scale. She tends to adjust the size and number of dots, relative to a piece. The scale and number of dots work for the original. Many of these Painted Dots pieces look like they’re starving for more. The majority of them just look unfinished to me.

Infinity dot pieces are 10x better, I think, because you have a lot of dots in two different sizes (bigger and smaller lol). Infinity dots has better movement, balance, and rhythm. Whoever okayed the pattern for Infinity Dots, good job.

Psychedelic Flowers is beautifully interesting, but I can see why it isn’t the main focus. Asymmetrical and organic designs tend to be favored in the East. Western design tends to favor symmetry and geometrical compositions. Most mainstream/well-known fine art and design works follow Western aesthetics. It makes sense that a Western brand will favor Western aesthetic choices as ”the safer and more commercially-appropriate option.” Because of history, a lot of Westerners see exoticism and eclectic in non-Western art and design, and it’s not always in a positive way.

Dots are just “safer.“

Planning on going to Japan this week. Which store did you go to, and was stock for other Kusama pieces still good?
