I do agree that Johnny has grown more handsome with age. I wish I could say the same!
But you often still read comments saying pity his poor wife. She's got her career and life sorted, she's got the dog, the child, and reading her own account of her life, she always was a career woman and not a typical Forces Wife. She didn't come from a military family, and at 5 years older, they seemed very different people to me, including class wise. He is so spectacular, and though not from Aristocracy, is Upper Class judging by his accent and background. Whereas she appears quite ordinarily middle class, and surprisingly short. I'd somehow expected her to be a tall elegant figure to match him, as Catherine matches William, but not at all. Though I wish her all the best with her future happiness and success with her company. ;)
Apologies if this sounded harsh, I didn't mean it to.
YIKES. No one's ever said a negative word about his wife here and it'd be nice if we kept it that way, in my opinion.

Welcome, by the way.

You have made some interesting observations! There does seem to be something "special" about the way Jonny presents himself - something that goes beyond his excellent military bearing and command presence. There is something aristocratic, almost royal, about the way he carries himself which is lovely to see. He seems to fit in so well with the King, the Royal Family, and his Staff.

It is one of the things I love about him. I'm Scottish and I have never felt so proud of being Scottish. I think Charles knows this and I think he will stay at least for the initial few years of his reign. I don't think William really embraces Scotland in the same way that Charles, Anne or Jonny do. Jonny looks lovely in tweed and tweed is as much a part of Scotland as Tartan and kilts are but I would love to see him in something similar to what Charles is wearing. Say what you want about the King but you can't fault his style. The King is always well dressed.
While in Scotland the King cuts quite a dashing figure in his kilt, suit, hose and sporran. Jonny looks equally dashing in the well coordinated suits & ties that he wears. It would be lovely to see him occasionally sporting the same kilt-look as the king when in Scotland!

Here is a photograph of Jonny attending an event at a London art gallery. I believe it was this past June. I stumbled across this somewhere online but do not know its origin so I cannot provide a source. There was some mention of Tatler in the piece about the art gallery so it may well be a Tatler photo or one taken by someone attending the event.

A tweed short jacket and this tartan would go down a treat. I have never before been so invested in men's fashion!View attachment 5837271View attachment 5837271View attachment 5837271

Thank you so much! A really good photo too! I can only assume someone scanned it from the Tatler magazine as it's definitely not on the Art Gallery website or social media. Always a pleasure to get new Johnny photos.

It's interesting how the Royal Regiment of Scotland Ceremonial Uniform was created by the MoD after the Regiments were amalgamated, I stumbled across an old article in The Scotsman, at the time quoting furious former Lowlander Regiment members who were not happy with the kilt, and said they were just as proud of wearing tartan trousers. I saw an old documentary film of the Sutherland area during the war about the life of Crofters, and presumably a member of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, now Balaklava Company of 5 Scots, and I immediately recognised the brown beret and pom pom, as it hasn't changed!

Caroline's Instagram account mentions a "busy husband" but there is no date on the entry and her account is "private" so no additional information is available. Other websites where she is featured do not mention a husband and she is not wearing a wedding ring in any of her photos. Both of them not wearing wedding rings for nearly two years does sound like a separation or divorce. I agree that he may be living in some type of "Grace and Favor" if not actually in Clarence House. His 5 Scots recently posted a current photo of him on one of their social media sites. Maybe he will be going back to 5 Scots when his time as Equerry comes to an end. Jonny kept 5 Scots very active in social media so we may still be able to get a glimpse of him when he returns to Scotland.

I was under the impression he was living at Wellington Barracks, next to Buckingham Palace. When in Scotland, I have no idea.
Typically, equerries are given apartments to live in (or use as a base) in Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. BP is currently undergoing extensive renovations which makes it largely inhabitable right now. Given that Charles’ residence has been Clarence House - I’d imagine jonny has a small apartment in St James Palace which is on the same complex and a space of his own at Windsor Castle.

Not sure about Scotland - balmoral castle is typically used only for the family and Charles private property Birkhall on the estate, doesn’t have enough space for his staff - so I imagine he’s housed with other staff in any of the 150 properties on the estate?

If it’s not those, then like you said, most of the palaces and castles have army barracks near by…

If Jonny does have living space in St. James Palace, that would make complete sense. Close enough to quickly walk, and still have privacy, out of the public eye. I believe the King, considering the importance of the work that Jonny does for him, would want to keep him close by and safe. Jonny has become so well known that I imagine it could become a security risk if he had to walk to work even with BP, Wellington Barracks, and Clarence House being in close proximity, unless the King provides him with some type of transportation. I wonder if Jonny has his own security coverage. As for Balmoral visits, possibly a single room in Birkhall or a designated shared house on the Estate with the rest of Charles' closest personal Staff?
