I fully agree but having said that, it is pretty normal for the British Tabloids I'm afraid. At least they didn't post pictures of his son or where he actually lives as that could cause him to be forced to move house.
Well, thank goodness for small mercies

Isn’t it actually illegal to post photos of children without their parents’ consent? I think they must have stronger privacy laws in Europe though, because I saw a French article that was almost word for word copied from the DM article but left out the details about his wife (her name, age etc.) In my country, we also have terrible tabloids which no one really should take seriously.
It is but they only did it because he’s gaining popularity due to his looks. If he was an ordinary-looking guy nobody would be interested and he could still have his anonymity.
That is true (and honestly I wouldn’t have known who he was if I hadn’t cared to find out because of his looks so I can’t be hypocritical about it) but this is also part of what makes me uncomfortable and is making me try to parse my own “lines I shouldn’t cross.” I wonder if he looks back longingly to the days of Covid masking when people couldn’t see his face. I do think the DM kind of crossed a line with all the info about his wife, however. She (and the dogs) aren’t really public figures like the King’s equerry and now she’s forced into limelight? I just would never want the DM to develop an interest in me.
The DM are also terrible at research and writing. He was never the Queen’s bodyguard, that’s RPOs from the Metropolitan police, and he’s not a platoon commander (that is a job for a lowly lieutenant) - he commanded a battalion which, among other things, performed guard duties, but he wasn’t traveling around physically guarding the Queen, and he’s not King Charles’s “new” equerry since he’s been the equerry for Prince Charles for at least two years. If I didn’t already take the DM and its fellow tabloids with whole salt shaker of salt, I would definitely do so now.
He has been with the Prince/King for several years now so he will probably be going back to his regiment in the next couple of years.
One of the folks on this forum (ceemee, I think) found photos of him being there he equerry back in June 2020, so he probably only has another 9 months or so (the Queen’s equerries had three year terms). I’m sure he’ll go back with a promotion and much goodwill from the Royal family.
The article says that he is living in Surrey which means that he is only 35 miles from London so fairly convenient for the Palace.
I’d imagine he moved there when he became PC’s equerry? My understanding is that his previous command, Balaklava Company, is based in Edinburgh when they’re not being the guard at Balmoral.
I used to go to London for work several times a year, and 35 miles can be an enormous distance sometimes if the traffic gods are against you! Heathrow is 16 miles from central London and it can take AGES at the wrong time. After my first trip in a taxi, I took the train every time!
