Don’t know if you already have this, from the DM, all about the Major

I feel like we’ve done more research here than the Daily Mail (not surprising really!) Like their stating he was the Queen’s “bodyguard” - no, he commanded the regimental guard that was at Balmoral and at Windsor a few times but that’s not the same as bodyguard. (My researcher side is offended by the sloppiness!)

However … yes, we will be seeing lots and lots of Johnny now that he’s equerry to the King and the King has a packed schedule for the next days until Her late Majesty’s state funeral. I dearly hope that all of these folks can get some sleep. I saw photos of Princess Anne at Holyroodhouse to day and she looked devastated and exhausted. I just remember being overwhelmingly exhausted and randomly weepy for weeks after my dad died (in the fullness of age, though not quite as elderly as the Queen) and I didn’t have to do this all in public. My heart goes out to the family.

Are we sure he is the one jumping? Still, it is indeed a pleasant thought

It’s definitely not him jumping. First of all, it’s the wrong tartan altogether and second, and more importantly, the jumping gent is a bagpiper (holding his pipes in his left hand) and for all Major Johnny’s myriad skills, I’ve never heard he’s a piper. I think this was a joke on Twitter that people ran with and that’s how misinformation spreads.

I think we'll be seeing a lot more of our favorite Scotsman from now on:graucho:
I'm beginning to feel sorry for Major Johnny's wife. Now she has internet groupies to deal with. I hope he gets to see her and his son as he looks mighty busy.

That table! The internet says what were they thinking to use a table so small that it is only good for a TV dinner!

Aww! Plus odds are that she sees VERY little of him in the next couple of weeks; KC3’s schedule is absolutely PACKED.

Re: the table, the last time they did this was 70 years ago and the ceremony wasn’t televised. It’s only to be expected a few things wouldn’t run like clockwork. I think the King was worried about ink spilling all over the documents if anyone made a wrong move. Major Johnny saved the day (and he’s worked for KC3 for at least two years now and seems to be fine not to mention, he is a career military officer, who has served in two war zones in actual life-and-death circumstances and has very likely at some point or another in his military career gotten a much more severe bollicking about SOMETHING whether or not it was his fault.) The Incident of the Inkwell was really a nothingburger that social media and people who never liked Charles blew way out of proportion.

Thanks for this! The person who prepared the table could've been too preoccupied to realize that we don't set the pen and ink trays on the same side of the table where one will sit to sign documents especially on such a small table.
The issue was William being left handed a left handed person cannot use an old fashioned nib pen used by a right handed person it was his pen in Charles way
