@ceemee, OH MY!! Those are very muscly thighs. Also, we make a great team - maybe we should set up a detective agency ;)

I can’t remember where I saw this and I will admit that it’s driving me a little crazy that I can’t source this but on some other forum, someone said Major Johnny played rugby at university. Which, looking at these photos, I can well believe. (Though I’m retroactively getting the vapors imagining what could have happened to that perfect profile in a rugby match. )

Whenever I see pics from the trip in Greece, I feel sorry for him. It looks like his mask is too small & about to fall off from his nose.
Haha! It’s because his noble nose and cut-glass cheekbones impede a proper fit ;) (My mask just sort of anchored itself in my chubby cheeks so I never had this issue.)

ETA: this only just popped up on my YouTube suggestions but Major Johnny accompanies Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla to Portsmouth for a ceremony commemorating the end of the Falklands War 40 years ago!

Here’s the video. Poor Major Johnny is in his full kit; it 24C there so not unbearable but must have been quite unpleasant in a close-fitting wool jacket and kilt. Prince Charles was in a tropical weight suit, but all the naval officers were also in their dark uniforms. :(

Thanks for the video from which I took a couple of screenshots of the Major, that I wish could look a lot better (I mean the pics, not the Major as he looks pretty good IMO). Here goes...

Yes, rugby is in his linkedin profile which i could've sworn was set to private earlier.
well, at least I think it's him. let's do a screengrab anyway, in case it got set to private again.

Aww, no matter how inconspicuous he tries to be, the camera finds him. My puppy hates bagpipes (which means I watch all these things in silence mostly) so as soon as they come on, I have to mute the video so I missed what the whole deal was with the bank note that lady was trying to give Prince Charles which he gave or asked Major Johnny to take. What was happening there?

It seems unlikely that there would be two Jonathan Thompsons of the same approximate age serving in the Royal Regiment of Scotland, so I would assume this is the same person (who has not updated their LinkedIn page in ages unlike Prince William’s equerry, Rob Dixon, who has his whole professional life meticulously documented there ;))

I circled something interesting - the Highlanders refers to the 4th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland (4 Scots) which was the descendant of an infantry regiment called the Highlanders, whose Royal Colonel was Prince Philip (here he is in their uniform.) The ceremonial battalion is 5 Scots (Balaklava Company), so MJT must have switched over or been promoted into that one at some point pre-2018.

I didn't catch the entire conversation as I was more interested in her constantly rubbing her nose and then fingering the bank note that made me wonder whether or not she was trying to transfer her "bugs" to someone else. How's that for a conspiracy theory? Anyway she wanted Charles to have the note that he supposedly autographed for her some years ago and then Charles gave the note to Major Jonny because BRF members aren't allowed to keep any gifts from the spectators. I believe all gifts are itemized and possibly given to charities, etc.
In any case, I took another screenshot of Major Jonny. It's a bit blurry, but it's definitely him near Charles.

Ah, I see. It seemed like a weirdly awkward moment and then Major Johnny collected the item. The nose rubbing maybe why Prince Charles looked a little startled but maybe the poor lady just has a nervous tic. I couldn’t figure out her role in this event for veterans - I don’t think they had female combatants at the time of the Falklands War so maybe she was a relative of someone who served there. Anyway, that was A+ equerrying by Major Johnny :)

I found another one yesterday - quite brief but it was in Westminster abbey on 21st November last year.
Not sure how to post links but I will try.
:flowers:Hello @Dizzydame and welcome to TPF and Major Jonny's thread. I hope you have as much fun as we do exploring TPF. IMO, I find it most interesting and relaxing and some times quite hilarious interacting with everyone else. :flowers:

I wish I could remember where I saw it but I did see a film/pictures of a Scottish band and one of them, I think it was the clarinetist, fainted and as his friends pulled him to his feet, you could see quite clearly that he was wearing underpants. I meant to take a screenshot but ambled off to do something else.

To answer the age old question:
This montage is from The Queen and senior royals
arrival St Giles' Cathedral
for Order of the Thistle
service for her most senior
Scottish Knights and Ladies.

It seems the clarinetist took a bit of a tumble after fainting. Eep!

Did you perhaps see it on @V0N1B2 post #42 page 3 of this thread, that I quoted above?
