So you’re saying I need to get back to the lab and do a new study of Major Johnny’s feet? For science!!!
Wonderful idea! Please proceed when you have enough downtime between your less important projects. Imagine the accolades you'll receive for proving this double theory. We might even call it a Double Major. It will also provide more information so we can enjoy Major Johnny's blog. Yes, in the name of Science, leave no stone unturned!

It’s a sacrifice to be sure, but I’m ready to shoulder the burden and take one for the team!

:blush:The pictures are soooo distracting I might have missed something, do we have recordings of him talking?

Here you are: https://www.forces.net/news/army/5-scots-prepare-ceremonial-guard-duty

he has a very posh Scottish accent (like public school, university, plus Sandhurst) so don’t be too disappointed.

Also, in the videos where he’s commanding the guard at Balmoral, you can hear him yelling commands and OH MY!

He's even more delightful talking than staring!
berolina, thank you :flowers:

It’s lovely to hear him!

I mean, I think he sounds lovely and has a very musical voice, but some people have expressed disappointment that he doesn’t sound more like Gerard Butler and Sean Connery; it sounds like he’s the product of private (called public!) UK schools and possibly university and definitely Sandhurst (which is the UK equivalent of West Point and which all commissioned officers at least do a course in.) So hence my warning!
Other definitely Scottish people with the same posh accent include former PM Gordon Brown and the actress Rose Leslie when she is just talking as herself.

There was a video where Jonathan was interviewed at length but alas... it's been made private!!

@calicocat's has a screenshot ...

Thank you @ceemee for this video and welcome to TPF and Major Johnny's thread. I hope you have as much fun as we do contributing to the blogs. :flowers:
Thank you. I never thought my first post here would be about Major Jonny . I read in another forum he graduated at Aberystwyth University with degree in Economics, International Politics with Intelligence Studies.

From one very recent, Major Johnny-inspired member to another, welcome to this site of hilarity and beauty.

I don’t know about his education BUT I think he is in his late 30s, given his rank (it takes some time to get from 2nd Lieutenant to Major) and because his medals indicate that he served in Iraq (the first medal in the row with the yellow ribbon) and Afghanistan, and the Iraq medals were for service between January 2003 and May 2011.

berolina,
If MI5 is monitoring us (we show up on Google) a Recruiter may be in touch with you to utilize your excellent skills in ferreting out the facts. :drinks: Every little bit about Johnny is interesting, speaking with grandmotherly interest, of course. Never too old to appreciate a handsome intelligent man, especially one who is so obviously devoted to the Queen.

Why thank you! MI5, if you’re reading, I mean no harm to anyone :hrmm: My actual work involves this kind of research, so I know where and how to look for public records!

And on that note and since I’m in the middle of an interminably long car trip, which is why I’m spamming you, these photos also show when Major J joined the army. The fourth medal he is wearing in picture 2 is called the Army Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct and you get it after 15 years of continuous service. He was wearing it in November 2021 but not in March 2021 in Greece; ergo he must have joined the army sometime between March 2006 and November 2006, 15 years earlier. (Maybe my username should have been Miss Marple? )

this one is just funny with Prince Charles and Camilla and MJT all peeking out of the Greek flags ;)
