Nearly time for the Royal Regiment of Scotland's traditional Royal Guard of Honour to welcome the King for his Balmoral summer stay. Hoping it will be in the next week or two and that perhaps a certain LtCol might accompany him !!!

While we are waiting ... I thought you might like to see this Royal Guard of Honour video from 2019. Having completed their duty of welcoming Queen Elizabeth II to Balmoral, they have left the castle gates and are on their return parade to barracks. If you look carefully, you will see (then) Major Jonny Thompson in the center of things, behind the pipe band, as they cross the River Dee. It's a long video, at 5 minutes.

Today's Court Circular records that Will has relinquished his appointment as the King's equerry. With that coming just as everyone moves to Scotland for the summer, hopefully more chance to Jonny spot while the new equerry gets up to speed.

It seems that over the past couple of years Jonny has been the main equerry on duty in Scotland in any event so hopefully that continues.

That's interesting- I wonder why he has not completed his full 3 year rotation? Yes agree - usually plenty of opportunities for J sightings in Scotland, perhaps because there are a number of more personal/private events for the King which Jonny tends to support.
