Henry Erskine was Groom of the Robes for over 50 years and served 3 Monarchs. Sir Harold Campbell served our late Queen and her father for over 15 years. When he retired in 1954 he was appointed as an Extra Equerry. Hopefully Jonny will serve in this position a long time. Whatever he decides regarding his career he will always be part of history.Oh, I think if Jonny is still working closely with the King, and is called upon to perform as Groom of the Robes, we will still see him in action.
If tradition is followed the UK State Opening of Parliament when Charles will deliver the King’s Speech should be an occasion we will see robes. I remember the pics from the last State Opening of Parliament, when Charles (as the former PoW) deputised for the Late Queen. Jonny was in the procession then.
