Her Majesty had a very special connection to the Argylls and latterly 5 SCOTS.

In the last pics of Her Late Majesty, if you look closely at the fireplace behind her, you will see the motto of the Regiment engraved - Nemo Me Impune Lacessit - (No One Assails [or Provokes] Me With Impunity).

This is the motto of the Kingdom of Scotland and was the motto of the Royal Stuart dynasty. It is now the adopted motto of the Order of the Thistle, and the RRS.

And the RRS badge at the bottom of the fireplace! Thanks for pointing these things out.

I’ve been thinking of all the events of the RF over the past 13 months and it really is history in the making. I was looking up Jonny’s appointment as Groom of the Robes and was surprised to see that it was the first appointment in nearly 70 years as the Groom of the Robes is not only used at Coronation but whenever Robes are worn i.e. State Opening of Parliament. Thank you! When I looked for information on the Groom of the Robes, I noticed that it appears to be an appointment that lasts a long time. It seems it might be until either the death of the Monarch or the "Groom" needs to step down or passes away. I hope this means that our captivating Jonny will serve in that position for many years to come. Sadly, it might also mean we may not see him if he is working behind the scenes for an event.

Jonny is only the 5th appointed Groom of the Robes since 1837

Good find ! - and you've just reminded me that the King should be due to formally open the Scottish Parliament. I don't have a date for it, but perhaps before he returns to England.

Oh, I think if Jonny is still working closely with the King, and is called upon to perform as Groom of the Robes, we will still see him in action.

If tradition is followed the UK State Opening of Parliament when Charles will deliver the King’s Speech should be an occasion we will see robes. I remember the pics from the last State Opening of Parliament, when Charles (as the former PoW) deputised for the Late Queen. Jonny was in the procession then.

7th November for that occasion.
