RomeGirl I hope your trip to Aberdeen is going well today.

I was wondering if maybe the Royal Cypher Aguillettes will be issued to the Equerries at the same time as the new King's Colours? They might all be worn together around the same time?

By colours I mean the new Royal Family Order ribbon which King Charles hasn't issued yet.

These were worn at the State Banquet for the South African President.

A lovely snap of our delightful Jonny. Jonny was with the King for the 200th Sovereign's Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in (2023).

I love this photo. The video is so good to watch as Jonny is so relaxed. He smiles and laughs and is obviously enjoying himself. I’m sure he misses the military life

I was watching videos from the State Visit to France yesterday and, as on several occasions, I noticed Camilla looking around for assistance. The Queen dispensed with the traditional Ladies in Waiting for engagements and usually has either her Deputy Private Secretary Belinda Kim (not on this trip) or PS Sophie Densham with her. But they never stay close enough to her to be on hand to take her brolly, or handbag, or flowers ,she always has to look around and wait. To me it's not being attentive enough. I would follow her wherever she went to be on hand immediately......when I wasn't gazing at Jonny ofcourse. :winkiss:

I do hope he’s got some time off. After the French visit he must be rather frazzled.
I am not in the military so all of this is just my personal speculation. The Equerries for the King and Queen (not speaking to any of the other members of the RF now) are active duty military officers, not private citizen employees of the palace. I would suspect that Equerries may be required, by their various branches of the armed forces, to utilize their accrued "leave" time just as it would be required of any soldier or Officer who is working on military installations around the world. Our dear Jonny may be required to step back from his Equerry duties for weeks at a time to follow the RRS's service requirements for taking time off. This might help to explain why we suddenly do not see him for long stretches of time!

Yes, I think that he will do.
The Argylls' Museum in Stirling Castle has posted an article with photos on their site about their Officer's Mess if anyone's interested ( I don't know if Jonny has eaten there..... ). My Argyllshire family men were in The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders which now form Balaklava 5. A range of nationalities now join as they follow their ancestral lines.

Thanks for posting this. Very interesting. Jonny did spend time based at Stirling Castle, and some of his memorable pics and video were taken there.

I think Balaklava Coy are well educated in the history of the Argylls, and greatly respect their legacy.

SifR8 posted an interesting article about the history of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and this relates to Balaklava Company's connection with them.

In 2015, the memorial to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders at Dumyat Hill was restored and renewed.

In 2019, Balaklava Coy commemorated Remembrance Day there.
(edited because I can't get my dates right.... silly fingers!)

I know this forum enjoys and respects the history behind Jonny's service so I'll share this pic. It is of Balaklava Coy, their Commanding Officer... and an unexpected addition, at the memorial at Dumyat.
I don't think this pic has ever been shared publicly before. It will be interesting to see how quickly it spreads....
