I am unable to watch the video but what do you mean by that? Is the dinner/washing only mentioned or actually seen?
Jonny gave a Royal Regiment of Scotland interview several years ago in which he describes having dinner with the Queen in a small Bothy on the Balmoral Estate. The Queen made the salad dressing. After dinner, Jonny and the Queen washed up the dishes together standing side-by-side.

I wish the BBC would include this interview on the iPlayer as they're making some old programmes available for the Anniversary.
I watched an Alba doc on Queen Elizabeth in Scotland expecting it to be on there, but sadly not. Just Politicians talking.
I only ever saw clips saved and posted. The link to the whole video on YouTube comes up as Private.

Think this is the one you’re referring to. The whole programme was great and the part you’re interested in Starts around the 1 hr 05 minute mark!

(The family restricted the use of footage post funeral and many of the royal events around it have been hosted by an anchor who is now embroiled in scandal so I guess that’s why it’s been taken off!)

Thank you so much!!!!!!!! :yahoo:
Such a pleasure to watch the whole clip, and hear the sound properly, and what a beautiful segment it was, even Huw looked moved.
I will watch the entire programme tomorrow (after the Women's World Cup Final).
What a whirlwind time that was for the King and Jonny (as BBC spells his name).
The footage of the Ghilles Ball I believe was taken from a 1992 doc, which is also on the iPlayer.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to see Jonny Highland dancing?! I wonder if he'll attend the Balls this year or if they'll still be held?

Before this for many years I was obsessed with the Western Isles, the Outer Hebrides, and always had a dream to go there (I have several books on St Kilda), and in the 90s subscribed to a magazine published in Sanday on the Orkney Islands (was always a thrill receiving mail with the Sanday, Orkney postmark!) But recently I've come to realise that the entire Highlands, East and West is magical.

I hope the BBC doesn't confiscate the coverage of huge historical Royal events because Huw Edwards is either hosting or commentating. Though I did tweet to tell him to stop talking and show some respect for Prince Philip's Funeral! It'll be interesting who the BBC chooses to replace him. Please God not Clare Balding, I thought she was dreadful on the Coronation. Apart from the horses she knew nothing and had done no research. Who would people in the UK recommend to take over from Huw? I suppose the State Opening of Parliament will be the first BBC coverage in the Autumn.

I think the BBC will call up another Celt, James Naughtie, to take over from Huw Edwards for the Commentary on Royal and Ceremonial Events. He goes on a bit, in my opinion. But he fits the brief. Shame about Huw though.

I remember reading somewhere that his friends call him "Jonny", using the first three letters of "Jonathan". Thus we have "Jonny"!

“BTW countdown to Monday when the King will be visiting the Royal Regiment of Scotland.”

Balaklava Company (5 Scots) provide the ceremonial guard when the monarch is in Scotland (a bit like the household Calvary at BP). Every year they provide a ceremonial welcome to the monarch to mark the start of their stay at Balmoral - they also provide extra “guard” duties to support the police (which I think is where the press get the “queens bodyguards” nonsense from).

This is what Charles is doing on Monday at the gates of the castle.

Here’s a video from back when Jonny was the officer commanding and in charge (29 Million views!! Which is mad for a video I’d consider to be a bit niche!)

Thank you so very much for sharing this! Excellent!!!

Many thanks from me as well for the 5-plus hours of coverage from Edinburgh that apparently wasn't available in the US, or maybe was at an hour that these ancient bones and eyes couldn't manage. The service at St Giles was lovely, and I was delighted to see several clips from an interview with one of my favorite Formula One champions, Sir Jackie Stewart. Add to that all the clips of "Our Jonny" and it was five hours well spent.

Just a 3 min video so far of the King being greeted by the Balaclava Company, 5th Scots, RRoS at Balmoral today, accompanied by Jonny in his Regimental tweed suit. I presume this is because he doesn't want to tread on the current Commanding Officer's toes or steal his glory. Hopefully Braemar Media will provide a longer version soon.

Loving Jonny's brown suede shoes.

Thank you for the video clip and photos. It appears they are both wearing the RRoS Regimental tie! Lovely to see Jonny with the King!
