Lovin' the Collier de Chien Bracelets!!!

I second what @ajaxbreaker has said. I think it's really important to see it in person and decide both if you like it and whether the price is worth it to you for what it is. And part of being 'worth it' might be that it is Hermes, and there is a certain amount of markup that you might be willing to accept just for the brand, not for the quality and craftsmanship, even as amazing as they are. IMO, most of us accept some of the price because of the connection to the brand.

I also agree that buying secondhand from a reputable seller is a good option. There are some things that, for me, are just not worth the price to buy new. Some are, but some are not, and that's a very personal decision that only you can make. But if you do reflect and decide truly for yourself that the price is worth it because you really love and will wear it, then in my opinion it is much easier not to feel guilty.

The CdC is a great bracelet. If you can try it on at H I'd suggest doing so as it may
look different to you up close & personal as opposed to images. I have several which I do enjoy
immensely & I would explore the secondary market but know your size & ask questions
about the condition.
The CdC is as stylish today as it was when first introduced & just gets better with time, IMO
If you take the plunge, I'm sure you will enjoy having it & taking the time to do your
due diligence.

It's definitely worth going to the store to try it. I was also drawn to the CdC when I saw it on pictures. But when I tried it in the store, I didn't like it on me at all. It made me look like.... I dunno, a tough biker wannabe or something. It was just too much. Not that i think everyone who wears it looks like that, it looks super chic on most people. But I'm always surprised by how many H things that look great on the website look terrible on me (and also, conversely, how many things I wouldn't look at twice on the website look incredible once i try them at the store!) So my advice would be to go and try it. Maybe you'll find that it's not for you anyway.

I completely agree with this advice because I had a similar experience. I loved the look of the CDC bracelet on others and in pics, but as soon as I put it on my own wrist, I knew it was wrong for me. It looked too big and almost like I was play acting as someone else. I think it is a highly emotional piece that just doesn’t work for everyone, as beautiful as it is.

And if you do end up loving it, then buy it not from the store but from the website. Then you have the option to return it. Wear it a few times around your house and see if you still love it a few days later. If you do, you might find that you don't care about the cost, now that the money is gone. And if you don't you can return it.

Another thing: You can find tons of CdCs on resale sites, many in excellent condition and often priced lower than retail. If cost is a concern, you could buy a marked down one on resale first to see if you like it or not?

Yes I hope they give me a call today confirming the appointment. When I buy from the website I cannot build a relationship with a SA, I hope in a couple of years I save up and can get my dream Kelly :) But yes first try it on, I also like some enamel bracelets but I need to see it in person.

Hi Everyone!

I think it's finally time! I am taking the plunge to step into the world of Hermes. I decided that my first purchase will be a bracelet. I have not seen anything yet in real life before. Tomorrow or Saturday I hear if I will get a Monday appointment so fingers crossed.

I do need your advice/opinion. What do you think about the Collier de Chien bracelet? I really like the look, it's edgy and cool. But it is very expensive, Is it worth the money? I mean it's almost a 1000 euro's. And it's not even real gold or silver. Maybe a silly question but how do you justify or not feel guilty with spending so much money? I am not wealthy that I can just spend like crazy but I just gotten into some extra money and now I can finally treat myself. I have been going back and forth to the website. Something is pulling me to it, It's magical!

I have been wearing blk/ghw versions since I was 15. At the time it was prob the only thing I liked at H, and even though I appreciate things in every dept now, I have never lost that feeling for the CDC.

I recently bought a preloved CDC in silver and RG. Right now, I prefer to wear it on its own, but I’m curious about stacks, whether with other Hermès, or with Cartier or any other brand. I prefer to wear the little circular ring down, towards my hand, so if I did stack, I think I’d add bracelets higher up (closer to the elbow than the hand). I also wonder if the silver of the Hermès would scratch terribly. I’d love to see photos, especially if stacked with Cartier love bracelet(s). TIA

Would anyone be able to tell me if the cdc 24 would stretch when worn for some time? I can fit a T3 on the last hole, but is a little bit snug. My SA told me it would stretch out, but I am worried that in the madame leather, it won't budge too much. Would the swift be more likely to stretch? Any thoughts?

I have 2 CDC both well over 10years old in Box leather .
Neither have stretched but the leather on the oldest one (Black and about 25 +years old) has softened considerably because I wear it much more than the tan and gold one.
Mine is the wider version of the cdc.
Hope this helps

I would wait for a T4 to come along. They do not stretch much and you should not settle. Did you ask your SA if they could do a search for the larger size?

I just purchased a cdc 24 in swift in size T2 and the first time I wore it-it felt a bit tight on the middle hole and I did not like how it looked/ felt on the last hole (felt large). I’ve worn it 3 times now in the last 2 weeks and I can swear it feels like it stretched a bit, so I would say it depends on the leather.

Lovely CDC ladies - been wanting a blanc CDC - there’s one but it’s craie swift and vs an Epsom blanc both rosegold hardware - which One would be more versatile ?

Thank you !!!
I have both craie swift and blanc epsom, both PHW. I really love the craie, it’s elegant and subtle (well, I’m not sure I can really say a CDC is subtle :giggle: ... but you know what I mean...). However, I reach for the white much more often. I find craie doesn’t go well with any outfit that has white in it and in summer it’s often what I wear. I find the craie goes well with beige and neutrals, which I do wear also but less often. Actually I bought the craie because I didn’t like the white with my beige outfit.
But then in summer my picnic CDC ( bought it few years ago when H released it for the first time) is the one I wear the most, it goes with many outfit (white or beige) and I don’t sweat in it when it gets really hot.
So in summary I find :
- craie swift : elegant, subtle, not common
- white epsom : easy, sporty , younger vibe
Last week I bought a CDC 24 Tatoo Blanc that sits actually between white and craie ... to give the 24 a try. I have to say, in my opinion, it’s the most versatile out of the 3 mentioned above.
Will you be able to send one back ? If yes, you could try both with your wardrobe ...

Wow what a comprehensive review!❤️❤️❤️
And you just spelled out what my fear / thoughts were all along !

That the blanc Epsom is more versatile and that it can’t replace the craie though !

And now you added a picnic CDC which incidentally I added to my cart last Night before sleeping - haven’t checked if it’s still there !

I have yet to see the tattoo in person - which hardware ?

Also will go with rosegold hardware but now you’re making me think if palladium hardware will have a cleaner overall look ?

Thanks again for taking your time to share your experience ! Helps a lot ! ❤️❤️

I’ve tried other HWs but only PHW suits me. If I could also wear G or RG, it would be a nightmare for me as it would bring even more combo to think about :confused1:. So I fully understand you dilemma but can’t share an opinion.
If it can help you, at least for the leather choice, here is a picture of white / white tattoo / craie and, for fun (!) one with my « summer neutrals » : the 3 mentioned and extreme in ficelle / rivale DT in ficelle also / gator in ficelle also !! ( how different !!) / picnic / barenia / asphalte. Most used : picnic in summer, but generally barenia. Least used extreme ficelle now that I have some other options.
Good luck deciding ! I would love to see what you went for
