I'm undecided between a white CDC Epsom leather PHW and a swift Craie CDC with PHW, Can anyone share their maintenance experiences with white epsom vs. swift in a lighter color like Craie? thank you!

Hi all! I just bought my first ever Hermes piece today, a CDC T1 with black box leather and PHW!

It's so beautiful, but I just realized there's a long, straight, dark mark on the inside just past where the metal ends, possibly where the end of the bracelet touched the inner leather. Is this something that normally happens? It's not a crease, it looks almost like a dark graphite line. I hate to make a fuss about it if it's something that happens, but I didn't see it on videos I watched reviewing the CDC?

Congrats on getting your first Hermes item! I have exactly the same CDC (T1, black, box calf, PHW, haha) 6 months ago, but I didn't have any marks when I got it from my Hermes boutique. My guess is that we all may get some black marks eventually as we use our CDCs. However, you spent a lot of money to get yours and it should be perfect at least in the beginning!

At the same time, I totally understand that you hesitate to talk to your SA for exchange. I would feel the same way. Mine actually had a loose stitch, which I noticed on the next day of my purchase. Even with the loose stitch, I was a bit hesitant to talk to my SA. Anyway, I texted my SA with a pic of my CDC to my SA and it was no problem (of course not, right?) and I was relieved and happy!

If I were you, I would talk to your SA. Again, it has to be perfect at least in the beginning! I am pretty sure your SA will be happy to replace yours with a new one. This kind of thing happens all the time, I bet.

Mine has a mark like that but its from wearing it for many years-yours may be from tarnish on the metal moving against the strap and rubbing on the leather...no idea if mine came with the mark tbh I've owned it so long!

Strange and specific question alert!

Has anyone ever held a baby while wearing a CDC? I just had this idea that I may not be able to wear mine while I'm holding my baby because the medor studs might be uncomfortable or even harmful. Does anyone have any perspective to offer about this? Thanks in advance.

IMHO, That would be very uncomfortable for your baby. I would not wear a CDC while holding a child or an animal either.

I wear CDCs 80% of the time when I’m outside but not when I was with my baby. However I can tell you by experience when I once forgot I had it on : it’s not a good idea ! Not only the studs can be very uncomfortable when you carry your baby but also because babies move their head sometimes violently and unexpectedly , and the metal with the studs turns out to be really hard. Hopefully nothing more than a cry in my experience, rapidly comforted, but lesson learnt for me ! I’ve put them aside during a few years.
... second lesson learnt is that I can also use my CDCs for self defence !;)
