Just checked the site here in Australia:
Alma BB up from $1440 to $1600 somethng
Alma PM up to $2000 from $1800.
A long zippy wallet is now $1100!!

Glad I made a big haul late last year. It might be my last for a while.....

Well yesterday it showed on the website the previous prices before the increase but once you put them in cart, it showed the new prices....... I did go to the LV store in my city and bought both Neverfull MM and Speedy 35 in Damier today. It would've been a little over $1,800 before the increase for both bags but the new total (after tax) was $1986. Oh well, I'm done for a while........ (or isn't that what we all say?)
Finally, my paranoia pays off for me.
When I first heard the rumblings about an increase in January, I pulled the trigger on a mon mono NF MM, even though my husband was screaming about the speedy B I'd just bought (and the Gucci wallet and the agenda, but I digress ...).
The only good thing I can say about this increase is that it provided me with the opportunity to say to Mr. Dior, "AHA!!! See, I told you ... I just saved about $150!'
Of course, his response was, "next time save me another $1100 and skip the damned bag."

Hahaha. Didn't mean to laugh at you, but these price increases are SNEAKY!So I have been eyeing on the Damier Neverfull (MM) for the past several weeks. It was listed on their US website for $850. I wanted to wait till I filed my taxes.... and guess what? I just went to their website and now the MM is listed at $940. I called my local LV store and asked the associate when the change happened and she said it went up this morning! And I'm beating myself for not getting it sooner...... ugh. I know they do their yearly or semi-yearly increases but why nowwwwwww!??! Sorry, I had to vent
Yes, next time you see something you REALLY want, just go ahead and buy it cuz you never know if you need to shell out more money just by taking the time to think and digest.
I hate these increases just like everyone else. Since I'm pretty happy with my LV collection, I will only entertain buying LE from now on.
Well it wasn't remotely worth the previous price either. I mean really? For the GM $900 not including taxes, for coated canvas and barely a handful of leather? There is no way anyone thinks that is anything other than a massive mark up.
Yeah I still bought one. No, two. Dunno why I love 'em I just do.
I think most all designer bags are ridiculously marked up. My wonderful leather Coach Lindseys are deliciously soft and squooshy. The quality is fab too, never had an issue. But, I still think the $428 for one is too much. Granted, I got mine w PCE at 25%off, but I feel the PCE price is closer to what the bag is really worth.
All desginer bags have big mark ups, and the more famous and desirable the designer, the bigger the mark up. And LV is one of the most desired.
I agree. The prices are paying for the luxury brand name. There are probably good quality purses for much less but not with the same name/exclusiveness. My mom uses the same coach purse every day now for a few years and it has held up well. Her friends give her a hard time for paying Coach prices, so it is all relative to what each individual finds valuable.
Seems like there is constantly rumor of price increases with these designer brands. I just bought a new chanel reissue and GST and there was no increase on bags as rumored in the threads. Oh well, I'm sure there will be eventually.
I really like the azur stresa pm, but $1890!? It is more expensive than some of the other bags that have the nicer interior (imo). I read about the impending increase but I could not budget for it right now after the chanel bags. I can't really justify anyway since I have several bags right now I hardly use even though I like them all. I need to use those instead of buying more.
I'd say just be sure you want a bag and not make quick decision just because of a rumored increase. I did this once and got an azur speedy 30 before an increase, the speedy style wasn't for me and I sold it 3 mos later through consignment after using it less than 5x and only got about $475, I paid at least $700 for it. So I lost a lot more than I saved from beating increase.
