Hi. Im interested in a denim pleaty and found one on a local buy/sell app, and am curious if they were commonly replicated when they first came out? This one is in great condition, and a good price but Im a bit hesitant. Any ideas on a good Authenticator for LV denim pleaty’s?
I had one when it came out and purchase it new. Wish I would have kept it. Yes there were definitely many fakes around.
O.k. Thanks. Im thinking Im better off buying off somewhere like Vestiaire where it will be authenticated first instead of buying from a private person. This one looks legit, but for the condition they could ask quite a bit more which makes me a bit suspicious.
There seems to be an influx of them on Vestaire and other sites recently. I don't know why.
As for Vestaire, beware. I bought a Dior mini boston & it was missing the Christian Dior underneath the zip inside so it made me doubt it's authenticity. It could of course been replaced some time ago but was not disclosed along with the smell of old perfume and cigarettes. I didn't have any trouble getting a refund but they deemed it legit, relisted but never disclosed it's problems.
LV is coming out with denim bags later this year. Not sure if the pleaty is making a comeback, but it might be worth it to wait if you don’t want to deal with the headache of authenticating it.
How are we feeling about the Alma GM? I loved seeing it on the runway and I think I am leaning towards getting one preloved. I love my PM and I think it wouldn't look crazy on my frame. I'm 6ft. I remember them looking crazy big in the early 2000's but was that just because the people carrying them were really tiny. Any thought?
Years ago I saw a slim tall black girl (about 5'8) worn a vernis red Alam MM / GM, she worn that bag really well, while it was a very large bag, it didn't overwhelm her and look perfectly for her. I had worn several PM (vernis & epi) I certainly can't wear a GM for sure, MM would already be a stretch to me.
