Very different look. If you're going for a pair of classic black ballet flats, I'd suggest Repetto -- much cheaper than CL, and super comfortable. For something a bit simpler (i.e., no bow on the front), I agree that Lanvin is a good choice.
If you want the spectator look -- though they are not as versatile as plain black -- you really can't beat the Chanel . (Though I just got a cream-colored pair with a black cap toe from Jeffrey Campbell, actually!)
If you're going for comfort, Lanvin flats are AMAZING.
In my opinion, CL dominates for heels and Chanel does classic flats. I have owned a few pairs of Chanel flats but they were so uncomfortable I sold them.
My Cambon flats are like slippers though!
^ITA! Can't beat CL heels, but prefer Chanel flats. Most comfy for me personally are Tory Burch and even better are Cole Haan Nike Air ballet flats....the most comfy things EVER!
