I had a good experience this morning, but I bought my husband some driving shoes and although they are labelled 42 they categorically are more like a 43 or 43.5, do you think I can take it up with Arlettie?

I should add - I don’t have buyers remorse, the shoes and box say size 42 but they are far bigger…
I find Hermes shoe sizes very variable - between styles and even within one style. I seem to range from 35.5 to 37! That’s why buying online does not suit me. I doubt they’ll take them back - you could sell on I guess ?

I did think I could sell them, but it specifically says on the invite you can’t resell (not that it stops others, there’s loads listed on Vestiaire and eBay already). It’s pretty annoying as they are really nice…

I missed out on last year's sale so was keen to come along this afternoon. They allow people to queue inside 30 minutes before your slot so there's no need to arrive too early. Men's section was peaceful and plentiful. In terms of silks, there were multiples of designs here and there but not as much as I envisioned in terms of variety and FYI only a handful of twillies. Once you've chosen your silks, they place them in a clear bag which is security tagged before you move to RTW (so be mindful that you are more or less committing to buy once they're sealed up). RTW stock was also good with a large mix of categories in various sizes - (lots of choice esp outerwear) - FYI didn't see any hats. I was most looking forward to shoes but wasn't overwhelmed by the selection for EU39. Staff were constantly replenishing as customers were taking shoes away to try or buy...they were very ready to help and knowledgeable if you asked them about sizes and colour-ways for particular shoes (which saves the need to hang around and wait for a pair you hope will turn up but never will). You're allowed to bring in your phone but were reminded (by way of signage) not to take photos or videos. I saw a fair few people instant messaging pictures / video calling people for advice on items ... staff seemed to be lenient on this point and I certainly didn't see anyone being told off during my slot - think this is very reasonable considering most people will come alone and would benefit from a quick second opinion from someone they know. You were also told that you couldn't re-enter a section once you left. However, toward the end of my slot I did ask if I could have another look at silks and they very kindly let me pop back in! Overall, a well organised event but regardless, I wouldn't rush back to a sale. It's not the kind of environment I thrive in and I tend to get flustered when time is of the essence (hence the back and forth between sections
). Agreed RE preferring to shop at your own pace ... probably more likely to make intentional and meaningful purchases IMO but depends on your shopping style. Anyway, left in high spirits with a new cashmere scarf and happy to have gone for the experience. Happy shopping!

 Some shoes are made in different factories.

You can actually see male to male and women's to women's they are made on different lasts.

Once they're yours they legally can't enforce that rule (just saying).

Not a lawyer so this isn't advice but:
Your intention was never to sell, your intention was to buy as a gift, it's your intention that would be determine whether to not you broke their agreement (UK) not your subsequent action. I doubt anyone would expect you to keep a pair of shoes for decoration or a fancy doorstop.

Thanks; they’re a pretty light driving moccasin so would be equally useless as a doorstop

Finally my sale finds have passed their 72 hours quarantine and I am able to take some photos. I went on Sunday Hermès vip slot. Last time I bought mostly summer items so this time I focused on A/W items. The size is all over the place! The dress is 34, the jumper is 36 and the T-shirt is 38! It all depends on what fit they come in and what fit you are looking for. All the clothes I bought are 60% off. Larger RTW items are 70% off. Silk is mostly 50% I think although i didn't pay too much attention. Only 1 140cm CMGM per person but for 100cm you can buy any many as you want. Didn't like any woman's scarves but found this cute men's 100cm cashmere scarf. Didn't buy any shoes as i still have last years sale sandals and full price Hermes trainers unworn! 20220922_085256.jpg

Lovely items. Particularly love the scarf.

Hi, I've never been to Ally Pally before, just wondering how safe is the park from the train station is? Or if anyone has any tips, it would be much appreciated! x
I also took the bus from Wood Green station. I didn’t heel unsafe as it was daytime when I went and there were people around. On the way back there several other people who had also just left the sale waiting for the bus towards the train/tube stations and the bus stop is just outside the entrance to the sale

I got the bus from the tube up to Ally Pally. If you have lots of shopping bags, you may prefer a taxi back: it's quite isolated.

Thank you so much! Will take the bus then x

Hi I've never been either...
Until this morning!
I walked from the station (about 10mins walk) it felt very safe and there were people running and walking dogs.
The road behind the station that leads to the park felt nice and safe residential.
I wouldn't worry
