I think as someone who was asked to SO and with no B/K limit thus far, you are definitely VIP!

Lmao! You have a point. I cross my fingers everyday she will arrive bearing a horse shoe.

I guess special order offers are pretty much the indicator then?

i had a chance to peek on the reserved list paper and figured there's 3 initials:
WI
RC
VIP
I think I'm just a little bit better than a WI (walk-IN!!)
RC is regular customer, I think over 80% of the people on the list are RC, very seldom VIP listed there............

I feel the VIP status isn't entirely based on spendings. Of course, this is all just a guess as I don't know exactly how the status is achieved. I would think the length of your history and your relationship with the store are also big factors. I'm not sure if most boutiques would give a brand new client VIP status just because he/she dropped 40K on things outside of B/K, I know my two most frequent stores does not.

But if we're strictly talking about numbers, I would think anything over 10K (possibly more in bigger market cities) in non leather (not just B&Ks) spendings, particularly RTW, will give more flexibility in how many Bs and Ks you can purchase per season. I haven't got the slightest clue what it will take to be a no-limit VIP. I really think it comes down to your relationship with the store and of course, the SM's discretion.

I'm in the US btw.
ITA....I consider myself an almost regular customer. Almost!:smile1: I pretty much buy gifts for my entire family/friends at Hermes but never big ticket items. Pocket squares, scarves, perfume, ties etc. I love handing over that lovely orange bag and watching peoples eyes go wide....:smile1:. For myself, lately I have bought an H item almost once a month for the past year or so...a shawl/scarf here, a belt/bangle there but nowhere near 75k/yr. I am always pleasantly surprised and delighted to get invitations to Hermes cocktail parties etc. I dont think its the amount you spend, I think its the relationship with the staff, SM etc.

It's funny you say this because I know of an instance in which someone was asked to buy a wallet after they procured a B. And in another thread I believe someone said they said they would take a Lindy and immediately afterward the SA found a Kelly for them in the system. :thinkin:

I guess it's different strokes for different folks. Some are lucky to have found the right SA at the right time

There are far fewer people than one thinks who has the actual "VIP" status with H. Being offered SOs or invited to events is not an indication of VIP status. I am not a VIP but I was able to place SOs or rack orders and get invited to events, even offered some really rare items. I am probably one of those what my SA and SM call “good” regular customers. I don’t just buy bags. I buy a lot of scarves, cashmere, jewellery etc. And I am looking into their home ware recently. They have amazing textiles, furniture, china, crystal etc. I also think achieving VIP status with H is not just about how much you spend, or a hard monetary threshold. If I have to put a figure, I would say perhaps £100K+ p.a. I'm in Europe by the way and other countries could be very different.

Thanks for your contribution!! In my mind you are VIP because you get to SO and get more than 2 B/K/year from H! Maybe I don't get it because I'm such a noob. What do VIP's get aside from this? Exotics, unlimited bags?? Sorry am such an H dummy, and sorry if I'm turning off the seasoned H collectors with such questions.....am just curious.....:D

On a side note, I'm confused about the scarves. I've read SA's think they "sell themselves;" others say it "counts more" than buying leather goods.

BTW, are husband and wife profiles linked for this purpose? Because I'm a newbie to H, but my hubby has been collecting ties forever!

I agree with xiangxiang0731 but would also add that building a good relationship with an SA and SM is as important. I would say that I have a really good relationship with my SM and don't spend alot on other items and with some fairy dust I have been offered items from the So Black and Ghillies range.

If you look in the H computer system, there is definitely no "VIP" against my name! So to H, I'm not a VIP. Because H demand way out strech supply, it's all about how to allocate their products to customers. What VIPs get is priority and flexibility. If a VIP wants the same item of a non VIP, The VIP gets it even if the non VIP is higher up on the list. VIP can order highly customised items etc. No quotas on anything. They get invited to the non-public VIP only sale days, etc.

They won't pool your husband's profile with yours, nor can they see your spending in another country. But separate profiles means you get separate quotas. Anything which is not leather "counts more" than leather items. The most "counted" are RTW, jewellery and home.

I think it varies from country to country and store to store. I Don't think it's just about the amount you spend, it's also about whether you have a genuine interest in all things H and it's history. The SA's are very shrewd and can tell if you are only spending to win the greater prize of a Birkin or Kelly or if you are buying because you genuinely love the brand. Just my thoughts....

It varies from country to country/store to store. Some storeS/countries that i know, they offer B/K without purchasing anything as long as i'm willing to wait.

To be a VIP client of Louis Vuitton, one must spend in excess of £100,000. Annually or regularly nearing that amount each passing year. That was in 2009, it may have gone up now. I assume Hermes must be the same.
