Linjer bags

I was thinking about pre-ordering a tulip bag from them today, but wanted to see what people on the forum were saying. Looks like I'll pass. $525 seems to be a bit much for something that's glued on canvas to leather. Should be stitched... I do however still love the dusty rose color. But that's even more costly. $825? Does anyone have one in the rose? Is it worth the extra price difference?

I found out about Linjer back in 2016. I did a bunch of research and when I finally was ready to buy, the Doctor bag was not available. They discontinued it due to the uneasy opening mechanism. Later, in the spring of 2017, they introduced the Tulip bag, and I added myself to the wait list. After waiting for a good part of a year, I finally got the notification that the bag was ready to be purchased. I paid the $425 because of the special promotion (so this price point acted as a final sale). The bag arrived a few weeks later. It came from Hong Kong, which surprised me because I didn't know it was made in China. It was beautifully packaged: it came inside a sturdy white box with Linjer on the lid; included a dust bag, and the bag itself was a "meh". It was much bigger and boxier than I expected, and very stiff. The strap was very long for my petite frame. I was disappointed and I couldn't return it and I didn't want to re-sell it because I waited so long for the bag.

I have the same assessment of the bag as others on this thread. It's stiff, it doesn't close, and the linen lining is glued onto the leather, not stitched onto the leather. When I was inspecting the bag, I can feel the glue on the backing of the linen where the two pieces of leather meet together in a "v" shape. The linen doesn't align with the circumference of the interior bag, so whenever the two pieces of leather meet up in the "v" area, there is a coin size gap where you can feel the glue. I think the bag shape is creative, but the construction is underwhelming. Since I've had this bag for over a year maybe they have updated the construction? They added a limited color option to this bag which is selling $825 so I would hope the construction is better now.

Overall, I've used it a handful of times. PerhapsAs for the long strap, I researched PurseForum and saw that Graciecreamy folded the straps and I thought that was so brilliant! So I folded the strap and never carried it as a cross body again! When I am not using the bag, it acts as a storage unit for my small leather goods.
Such a shame it did not work out, it looks lovely in the photos

I just received a navy doctors bag. The leather is beautiful. But the hardware ist really strange, little stained or corroded?

How does all your Linjer bag ladies‘ s hardware holding up over time?

I bought the tulip bag recently and there's next to no hardware on it, which is good based on the reviews I've been reading.
I'm so confused, cause the reviews on their site are all amazing for every single one of their bags. Luckily I got my tulip at a consignment store so I didn't have to pay full price. I have mod pics if anyone needs any for reference. Strap is a good length, but the leather is soooo stiff.

Hi!..I was very disappointed with Linjer..I posted about my issues here anout 6 months ago..as far as the reviews go, I found out that their employees write a lot of them..even for some stores!! ..unethical IMO..I'm happy you didn't pay full price..I would never buy anything from them again...It cost me over $50 to send back a faulty item!

After using the doctor bag quite often, I have to say that it hold up good. The hardware functions well and the shape stays as it is. Only downside that it did scratch somewhat easily at the upper corners around the hardware and this unfortunately well visible because the underlying leather is bright. But I guess other smooth bags do scratch easy, too...

A bit of an update for anyone thinking of buying one of their bags. I ordered the doctors style bag and when I opened it I knew I would be returning.

It was smaller and more delicate and less premium and less nicer than I thought it was going to be. Also when you return you don't get all your money back, they charge you a restocking fee which I think is uncalled for as they can resale the bag at full price as it's in the exact same condition as it was when they sent it.

So I bought a cute little green Kate Spade croc-embossed Lovitt this weekend, intended as a Christmas gift for my niece (Yes I'm an early shopper!) The purchase somehow reminded me of the half-forgotten navy Linjer Doctor's Bag I bought 3+ years ago (see my review on this thread Dec 14, 2018) which I had used only a couple of times, and thus inspired me to re-discover it. Hence this follow-up, hopefully a helpful service to fellow Doctor's Bag fans:

Upon taking it out of its original packaging, still delicately wrapped, I found out how thin the surface leather of the bag was... 2 small pieces of the surface at one side of the frame peeled off when I opened it. (See photo)

This never, ever happens to any of my high quality leather handbags, totes, or briefcases. Certainly not those at the same price range as what I had paid for the Doctor's Bag. Cheaper, sub-$100 "leather" handbags and belts? - yes. But one doesn't expect much longevity out of them precisely because of the price point. You pay for what you get, right?

Besides that, I was also reminded of why I didn't use it more. The size was just neither here nor there: too small for outings when I was carrying a book or tablet, too clunky for times when I just needed my phone and wallet.

I am still struck by how adorable the shape is though. (Although the color to the naked eye was nothing like the beautiful navy as shown on the website, which can only be captured through a camera lens. Those of us who have the bags will know what I mean.) No wonder Linjer is still selling it, probably due its popularity. I do hope people who covet the Doctor's Bag get more mileage out of it than I do. I plan to start using it, despite the unsightly peel, while expecting a rather short lifespan of the "leather".

For future premium-priced purchases? I shall stick to more reputable names.

The doctor bag is a very cute shape. That's awful with the leather peeling! My tulip bag from five years ago, remains a bucket, holding my small leather goods. The opening is too wide, and it's an awkward shape to carry around, with interior items unsecured.

So I bought a Tulip bag earlier this year in the Natural/Blush colorway and have worn it on and off for a couple of months. My conclusion is that:
1) The Tulip bag is not worth the full $525 purchase price but if you can get it discounted or pre-loved, it is absolutely worth considering simply because of its uniqueness. It's wearable art in my opinion and the odds are that you won't see anybody else wearing one.
2) The leather is definitely very stiff at the beginning but it is starting to get a tad flexible now. Once I got comfortable with just how sturdy the leather is, I started bending the sides into the shape I want and working the tie to make it more flexible. With some patience on my part, I believe that I'll be able to cinch it into the more "tulip-y" shape shown on the website.
3) The leather patinas faster than I expected. It's noticeably darker each time I pull it out of the dustbag which makes it a fun surprise each time.

I paid full price for this bag and I don't regret the purchase. It's really odd but I find myself enjoying it more than my better constructed bags simply because of what it is: a unique and ever-evolving bag that nobody else seems to have!

Just read on their website under "warranty". Leather goods are under warranty under responsible use. Since you hardly use it, you may contact the company and try to get a replacement??
