Lining up for Hermes - thoughts, rants, raves

Any advice Annabel for my weekend trip. I don't know whether to log on for an appt on Friday for Saturday or Saturday for Monday as obviously, as you say i will unlikely get a second one...Im also toying with the notion of going in blind and acting a bit naive on the Saturday.... even more risky I guess...

First thing to consider is usually Saturday will be crowded and in general stock are lower during the weekend (but again depending on your luck it can change). Second thing to consider is it's entirely up to you and your schedule just which day you can afford to write off the whole day for hermes shopping as late appointment will be delayed and usually appointment timing can take as far as up to 630pm and therefore last appointment can end around 7/8pm (so if you fly back on Monday evening bear this timing in mind). Third thing to consider is if you try on fri for sat and don't get it, you can at least try again on sat for mon; while if you only try sat for mon and don't get it, you might not score any appt at all.

Yes, Im inclined to agree with you as I will need to leave the city at 6pm on Monday. Gosh its all so stressful isnt it. Its one thing to know that you may not get a bag but its a whole other thing not knowing if you'll event get an appt.

Are we all a bit crazy stressing about the experience of wanting to spend such a huge sum of money which should be totally effortless...... Hermes are such experts they have their customers exactly where they want them... I'll drive myself crazy for the next 2 months trying to decide on what to do....

Thank you for your help..

I went to Hermes FSH during fashion week. Made two appointments online (one with my friend's details and one with mine) on Friday night. We both managed to get appointments for Saturday. Strangely enough, one of us had a reservation code but the other did not.

They kept changing the times so we called (spoke in French) and an Hermes staff informed us that it was OK if we couldn't make the appointment right on time. What was most important was to be in the appointment system. Once you are in the system, you can apparently arrive at the boutique and they will find someone to assist you. (We were both late for our appointment by at least an hour). But, I do suggest calling ahead if you are going to be late!

Although there was no queue when we arrived at 3pm on Saturday, the staff at the front door were a little bit mean and unhelpful when we asked where the Leather department was. I suggest giving the staff at the front door a polite "bonjour" with a smile and head up to the first floor where the leather department is.

I am currently in Paris. Has been trying to secure an appointment for 2 days, no luck. The new online system is full of uncertainties...your chance of securing an appointment is fully at the mercy of some computer program deciding whether you are lucky or not. I think it is disadvantageous if you are in Paris for a short time. I know a lot of us hated the line, but after this experience I rather know that if I put in the work and go line up early I can be certain that I will have an appointment.

i agree 100%. i'm tried today and no luck. i have purchase history too tho i'm starting to think it is not a factor whether you get an appointment anymore.

Have always preferred the line so didn't say much on this thread... lol

I tried 2 days so far... first day (4/10) both me and hubby tried n no luck (I got history)
Got no SMS nor email so I went into the store today (5/10) and looked for my SA to ask and she said I was the 4th customer telling her this!

She asked me to try for Friday and if not successful, my hubby should try... she used the word "lottery" and said that the more times you fail, the higher chance you could get next time although I don't quite get the logic of asking me and hubby to try alternatively haha

I followed and no appointment today as well so will try tomorrow for one last time as we r leaving on Sunday as well

Finger crossed ladies!

P.S. Saw 2 ladies got offered birkins (1 definitely in 30 and blue Zanzibar/ the other could be 25 or 30 in RG), 4 ladies got lindy this morning while waiting to ask about no SMS so I believe the process would more or less be the same once u get an appointment... but first thing first, some luck!

I am guessing they group us into 2 segments, people without purchase history and people with purchase history, and then they take a percentage from each segments. They might even have a further segmentation of those with purchase history, i.e. total money spent, on leather and non leather products, B/K/C, etc.
