Lining up for Hermes - thoughts, rants, raves

The thing to keep in mind is that many people are trying for appointments. I know it must be discouraging to apply and not get one, but let's not romanticize waiting in line now, because that was no guarantee of getting an appointment either. :amuse:

People were getting there at 5 am and standing in line for 5 hours and still getting turned away because all appointments had been filled by the time they were able to fight their way to the hostess. Even those who got up at 3 am. and waited for 7 hours and were lucky enough to get appointments, would then have to hover nearby all day and still no guarantee of a bag.

At least this system is respectful of the one thing none of us can recover, and that is our time. One can sit at one's computer in pajamas and make the request. As always, there are no guarantees, but at least it is more civilized and elegant. They no doubt have bugs to work out, but I think it is a step in the right direction.

I complete agree with this. I'll take my chance with an online system any day instead of lining up for hours. The staff at FSH could learn be more gracious with customers, as they are in Sevres (staff there was wonderful).

I didn't see people make appointments in the leather department at Sevres and there was no queue during the weekdays (morning/afternoon) when I was there.

I noticed one woman purchasing a K in Noir/PHW with the colored handles from the 2017 collection (however, she looked like an extremely serious buyer with a long purchase history) as I met her in the baby section.

I didn't see any other people being offered any bags during my time in Sevres. But the SAs in the leather department weren't busy. The SAs in the scarves/accessories/jewelry and watches department were very busy. I guess it can just depend on the day.

Note: The Sevres store has a super large collection of scarves and petit H. I also saw a couple Rodeos (but wasn't offered any of the "rare" horses).

My shoe SA at Sevres said, for B/K/C, don't come first thing when store opens as they don't get shipments this early.. Now that i think about it i didnt see anybody get any so... Now i don't see the point of the sevres queue outside...

We were told a few reasons why the passport
1- 1 bag per person for every 6 months to prevent resellers or 1 person ffrom buying up stock. Hermes wants many women to carry the bag, and not one person buying many for themselves.

2- China has a number of fake Hermes stores selling real goods at 4x the cost. These stores look, feel, and have authentic products but are not Hermes boutiques. So those carrying Chinese passports may be more scrutinized and have a tougher time buying bags.
