Lining up for Hermes - thoughts, rants, raves

I think this is the case, yes. But 8 am is still 2 hours before the store opens, so anyone who wanted to buy a spot would still have to get up fairly early and wait for a couple of hours. My understanding from this thread and others was that most of the swapping and line selling activity happened right before the store opened. So maybe that explains it? I am planning on asking my SA if she knows anything about this when I next go to the store in a few weeks!

I was reading the other thread. People used to arrive at 6 am to find 10 people in line only to end up with 30 people in front of them by the time the store opens. Line sellers were selling their spots to multiple people. Security does not allow line swapping after 8 AM. There also appear to be belt barriers so line so line cutters can't skip the queue once the doors open.

I think they have to, or else there will be a crowd right before 8am. Just that there is no exchange once the security is there. So spot sellers need to do their exchange before 8 and the customer pays and still need to wait 2 hrs. Maybe thats why not as many people now

It really is up to luck ....... a good friend of mine just came back from Paris - she and her husband walked into FSH at 2PM on a weekday. She inquired about purchasing a CROC bag and they told her no appts were available. then another lady overheard and took them to the mens dept where she said "we don't usually do this" and she gave them an appt in 20 minutes with a leather specialist. My friend turned down 3 bags and then bought a black epson PHW 20 cm Kelly!

hi @Uyen4570 , did you mean another sa when you said another 'lady overheard'?

There was a line outside Goyard London store today when I walked pass it. The store itself didn't even look busy inside. Must be a new trend so it seems!

I know...and one snaking outside YSL, BS this Sat, I was shocked. The £ at a low (plus de-tax) makes it a favourite destination for personal shopping and resellers the world over I guess.

Only me, a friend and a small family of discerning shoppers at Asprey. I think I have a new shopping policy. Un-follow fashion; whatever's hot, glide cooly in the opposite direction.

Not too bad at H ATM. August is a slow month of course. If I had to wait outside in line (like the last time the £ dived) I'd make sure I brought sandwiches and music. In Paris, I can think of at least a thousand other things I'd rather be doing (even though queues are obviously 'where it's at' these days).

About time H had an online booking system for FSH - based on a client's previous purchase history elsewhere and what the client says they want to buy. Perhaps they could cross-ref with available stock (isn't that what computers are best at?) and stop wasting everyone's time.

Well said!

I wonder if anyone heard about FSH is going to change their way instead of lining up for appointments. I saw someone published that she visited the FSH store and chatted with the SA about the new method, but she did not say any details.

Just saw some info regarding the queue at FSH on IG. Photo/info credit to IG-er lurve.hermes.

Thank you for sharing, @Cambridge Girl. I hope that this works and helps prevent the insanity. Now the only thing to worry about is getting online at the right time!

Went to Sevres in the morning to try a rivale bracelet that was oos at FSH, bought a few things. SA checked for bags and no go - she says black is tough until after Sep. She was very nice. I believe she would have given it to me if they had it.

Went to FSH about 1pm. Got an appointment for 5:15pm. Now waiting...

Good luck, @dragonette! Keep us posted.
