Lets talk Lanvin

For about 3 years I searched hi and low for a Jet Set bag and now I just can't see spending anymore that $600 on one. Ann's has one for $1200 but... hmmmmmm... love it but oh I don't know...

I do like their bags but definitely overpriced.

I have two...the patent turquoise I've had to have fixed twice. The little bar on the handle kept coming off. I sent if back to bob ellis shoes and they fixed it both times for free and sent it back!

I love Lanvin!

I recently bought the Lanvin Papillote Bowling bag in yellow. I tried to take pics - but it's really slouchy and the pics just didn't do it justice. This is the link to the Barney's page -
http://www.barneys.com/Papillote Bowling Ba/00505000854832,default,pd.html

This bag is AMAZING. I typically don't care for Lanvin - their purses are usually too conservative for my taste. But the yellow color pops and everyone who has seen my bag loves the leather. It's not just snakeskin-like embossed leather. The leather is laser-cut so the scales actually pop off the surface of the leather the way real snakeskin does.

The purse seems really durable, but the blue ribbon is getting kind of sad and saggy and the ends are fraying a bit. Still absolutely infatuated with this purse though!!

^^
Congrats - that's a gorgeous bag! I like the sound of the laser cut leather IRL
Can you remove the ribbon and steam it back to life? Just a thought.

I ended up buying the velvet Intrigue bag I posted about earlier. It's the most adorable bag, probably overpriced, but I couldn't resist it and once it arrived I couldn't bring myself to send it back

I'm LOVING this season's Lanvin bags :smile1:

I have the pouchette clutch in grey python and love it! And today I saw the Amalia MM and just had to get one (there were only 2 available and 1 was already spoken for). It does remind me a lot of Chanel, except it's prettier (nobody shoot me - I do love my Chanel as well) and Chanel doesn't make a bag exactly like this. (photo is a stock photo)
I love the size, the feel of the leather, and the hardware, and the fact that it is a lot lighter than it looks. I also find the chains to be really comfortable. I was wondering if anyone else has this bag and can share any feedback?

Congrats in getting the Amalia! I have the same MM(the original from SS09...the anthracite with blue lizard handles)and adore it. Love the size, love all the pockets and love how light it is:heart: Also, I had the chain shortened at the Lanvin boutique so that I could wear it crossbody(I'm very petite and it was too long on me wearing it as messenger style).

I have 8 Lanvin bags and love them all:heart: To me, they're edger, understated version of Chanel bags with smooshy leather;)

I have: 1&2) 2 SS08 Original Small Partage in Black with brass tarnished HW(one is a back up as it is my workhorse),
3)a FW08 Happy Partage GM Black with Blue Gros Grain Ribbon trim with silver tarnished HW
4)a FW Happy Partage MM with black embossed goat leather with antique gold HW
5) a FW05 Chocolate Brown Heroin with fringes
6) a FW08 Bronze Polison bag
7) a SS09 Amalia MM in anthracite
8) an 04 small bucket woven bag with chunky brass chain handles.

^^ How long did it take to have the handles shortened? I love my Amalia but I do wish the handles were 2-3 inches shorter. I can wear it messenger-style but a few inches shorter would be just perfect. Unfortunately there is no Lanvin boutique here -only a retailer that carries their bags.

Oh, it only took less than a week! I was pretty impressed:yes:
I take all of my Lanvins(both clothes and bags, shoes I take them to a cobbler), even the ones I haven't bought from them, to the Lanvin boutique as I have a peace of mind that nothing will get screwed up....

But I trust it will be rather easy to take a few links off...you should be fine with a (trusted)cobbler, I think. I think if you take it to a retailer to have it sent off, it'll take quite a bit longer.....

I fall in love with Lanvin bags but they look so delicate... I'm a rather careless person... are their bag really as delicate as they look? Do you have to do lots of special care to keep them in good condition? And people who have had them for several years, do you have any problem with the leather and hardware? (colour fading/transfer, scratches, tarnished hardware etc) TIA

I don't own a Lanvin bag... yet :graucho:, although I'm a huge fan of its ballerina's (i have 5 pairs), I stumbled on this thread and I must say the Amalia and Happy bags are TDF!!

And you're right about the Chanel look, but IMO a lot edgier!!! This month, I was going to buy a Chanel camera bag, but I have since changed my mind and will go for Lanvin instead (since I own Chanel bags, but not Lanvin). My only dilemma is WHICH Lanvin??? I WANT THEM ALL

PS. I love love love the aged looking textured leather used this season

I have had my Amalia for a couple of months, my clutch for longer. I've used the amalia more but both are in excellent condition. I find them to be quite sturdy. The Amalia actually looks even better than it did initially. I was expecting the ribbons to start showing wear but they still look good. I find that some of my other bags tend to show some rubbing in the corners pretty soon after the 1st use, but no marks on my Lanvins yet. I am not careless but I am not obsessive about my bags either.

The Amalia is a wonderful bag - you cannot go wrong with it! But I also love this season's Happy bags. I would love the gold or pewter. I actually have a dark white (light gold) Chanel reissue and it's very similar to the gold Happy. It's also one of my HG bags but I am starting to think I would like the Happy more:p
