Indeed!

The renovateur has mild cleaning agents so it can strip a bit of colour. It’s not a big issue for shoes since they sell their own pigmented creams to restore colour but not ideal for bags. 🤣
I once used Cadillac Select leather lotion (that worked fine on my Chanel caviar and lambskin bags) for my Hermes Royal Loafers (smooth calfskin) and was horrified when it stripped some color off. 😱

So sad 😭

So many lotions have cleaning agents but I find it’s a bit like two in one shampoo; you’re better off with separate products. 🤣

What type of leather ?

Smooth:

Ostrich:

Crocodilian:

Suede:

I’ve had great experience with all of the above!
Seems like the Macadamia lotion is not available/hard to find in the USA. I looked up vendors from the Saphir site and only found mink oil lotion.

I'm not sure as I'm not in the US, but is this any good?

This forum is such a treasure trove and full of people who are willing to share. I had never been into luxury bags, not even popular mid-range bags. Until Delvaux. (and with the help of knowledge from this forum).

I am wondering, will it be possible to bring a secondhand Delvaux bag to Delvaux's bag spa if I don't have an account with them yet?
(with faith that the bag is authentic)

I reckon they will take a fee of sorts which I'll be happy to pay to care for the bag.

Great! Thank you for sharing the site. I see the macadamia lotion that Christofle mentioned. 😄

I’m in California, USA. When I asked my SA about spa’ing preloved Delvaux, it seemed like it was welcomed unless I had the proof of purchase/receipt or authentication card that they can look up. Since the bags don’t have a serial number or anything, they rely on looking up the record. I challenged her that if Delvaux stands by their product, it shouldn’t matter as long as it’s authentic. Anyways, the convo ended there and I never mentioned buying secondhand again.

I actually just talked to one of the operations managers at the one of the boutiques a few days ago. They are the ones who handle bag spas. I talked about one of my vintage pieces from 30 years ago and said that was before I was born and even asked if I have to be the original owner and they said “of course not!”. Side note I do have an account with them and have built some rapport by shopping at the store and because as I am so enthusiastic about the brand. I was told that they can take care of preloved/vintage pieces but was also warned that bag spas can take up to 12 months since they have to send it back to Belgium. I would advise to visit a standalone boutique (one is NYC 5th Ave and one in Orange County CA at South Coast Plaza) and talk to one of the managers if you’re interested in bringing in a preloved bag!

Has anyone visited any stores in Belgium (other parts of Europe as well). Trying to plan future vacations, and wondering if it's worth stopping in/alotting time for Delvaux shopping, especially the headquarters. I'm not really feeling the new bags lately but was wondering if there are any old season bags maybe in Belgium still hanging around on shelves? I really liked the mid to late 2010s designs.

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences! 😃 Sounds like I'll be most comfortable bringing in a preloved bag after I've established a relationship with them.

I do hope to purchase new from them eventually. But would like take some time first; I've skipped so many 'stages' that many young women I know who are into bags went through: MK, Polène, Coach, Loewe, etc.😅 so I'd like to be more cautious and intentional if I'm going straight to purchasing from Delvaux (take time to make sure I not only admire them as works of art and craftsmanship, but also be doubly certain about my style, my lifestyle, my personality, my likes...).

Typo..meant to say ‘unwelcomed.’

The SA I spoke to was fairly new but she did ask her manager who backed her statement. They would only handle bags that come with a receipt or authentication card. She mentioned there’s alot of fakes on the market. When I asked what about family heirlooms passed down from generations, how can you expect to have proof of purchase? She replied that they could look up the purchase record by orginal owner’s name.
