Delvaux's IG has been providing a few more reveals on upcoming black bags.

This looks like the super tiny Brillant model with inset metal Ds:

The above are not for me but fun to see them.

I am loving how cool this customer is. She was featured on the Delvaux Shinbaibashi Parco IG. A shout out to her and keep rocking it!

Hey, I am new to the brand Delvaux and wanted to know how good the handbags retain their value. I see handbags also as an investment. I also fell in love with the caprice firework. Can you just buy it in a store?
Thank you in advance,
Mary

Spoiler alert they don’t and instead tank in value like a boulder in fresh water. :giggle:

SAs are very easy to reach and are super responsive so if there is something you want you can probably get it.

Hi. Welcome to the world of Delvaux. The Caprice Fireworks is a limited edition collection so only a few store locations will have it. 🙏🎉👍🏼

Thank you. Does this bag hold its value or also not even though it is a limited edition?

Hi and welcome. While SM touts handbags as investments, to me, the vast majority are sunk goods. Meaning that you will never regain what you paid for it, even 50% of the retail cost. The only exception, so far, are Birkins and Kellys. Delvaux's leather and leathercraft quality has been maintained so I purchase for the love of the bag. As @Christofle states, take a look at the prices bags have sold at on the resell market. That will you give a good sense of how well they retain their value. No one can predict the future of course. Good luck and enjoy!

I agree that it likely will not hold its value. I have a Brillant Diva, which was a fabulous seasonal/special edition bag a few years ago - I think it retailed for about $10k at the time. Now I’d be lucky to get half that for it, in near perfect condition. That being said, I adore the bag and would never part with it, so I don’t really care about the resale value, thankfully.

The bottom line - if you like the bag and would enjoy owning and using it then I absolutely recommend getting it - Delvaux really is a fabulous brand. But if you only plan to own the bag for a year or two, i think you should expect to lose roughly half of the bag’s original cost, if not more depending on the condition and demand at the time. On the other hand, if certain influencers start carrying the bag, then you could see a lot better return on your money. But odds are pretty high it would sell for less than you paid, regardless. Good luck with your decision

I think Delvaux is for die-hards. Resale value is no good. So essentially if you love Delvaux and don’t want to lose too much value, buy on the secondary market.

On the flip side, I’ve noticed for the most part Delvaux limited editions don’t seem to end up hitting the resale market. (People buy them to own them and there’s very few produced so if you don’t buy them when they are released it’s easy to never see them again)

Agree with you on the limited edition pieces. Those hardly ever hit the resale market. I’ve been looking for a few and Delvaux die-hards aren’t giving them up either. lol

At least with Delvaux, when they mean limited, it’s very very limited and that feels special and rare.

Delvaux has increased prices several times in the past years. A classic piece (brilliant, tempete) in a neutral color will have a good resale value. I bought one about ten years ago and it’s almost three times the price I payed for it now.

However, I’ve experienced that Delvaux items show wear and tear soon. I’ve barely used the Brilliant, so it still looks as new. Two other pursers that I’ve used as everyday bags showed wear (scratches, color wore off) in no time.
