Let's be Honest: What bags do you like, but you're never going to buy/keep?

1. All bags with patina. I don’t have the patience to care for them.
2. All high-end white leather bags, because they say they yellow over time. So for white bags, I go for mid-range.
3. LV bags in vernis? They said that it is high maintenance and light-colored ones may have discoloration over time
4. LV Petite Malle and Petite Boîte Chapeau. So beautiful but too small.
5. Moyat wheel bb. Gorgeous as well but again, too small
6. BV Pouch large gathered intrecciato leather clutch. I can’t bring myself buying a clutch at that price. It seems too trendy too.

I'm listening to a youtuber talk about the reasons why a person would buy luxury or designer handbags and I love the questions she poses.
1. Are you buying the bag because you love the design, or because you love and want to emulate the person you like the handbag on?
2. Would you still love the bag if it didn't come with this specific logo? Do you love it for what it is, or do you love it for the luxury image to brings to you?
3. Is this an impulse decision, or is this a bag that truly fits your lifestyle 100 percent and you know you like the handbag for what it is?
4. Are you clear on why you like the bag and why you want it? How will you use it?
5. Bags are a tool. Do you feel comfortable using it or is it so expensive you are too afraid to use it?
6. If you didn't buy this bag, what would you spend with that money instead? What do you value more?
7. What would your life be like if you didn't have that bag?
8. "Useless things are the most expensive, but things that are useful are always the most worth it."

And then the youtuber also quoted someone who said "I can save up for a certain amount of time to afford a luxury handbag, but I cannot pretend to afford the lifestyle owning luxury implies. I would rather work hard and earn my status through my own merit, than to stand on a platform someone else created, to look at a scenery that someone else wants to look at." Poetic, but I think the meaning comes across clearly.

Thank you for sharing! I asked these questions for each bag in my collection. Only one was bought because of the brand. I really love the rest, with or without the logo, regardless if they are premium brands or not. If I were to downsize, the first one that I’d sell is the one i bought because of the brand.
