Let's be Honest: What bags do you like, but you're never going to buy/keep?

-Mock croc bags (love the look, but I’m way too casual)
-Raffia (love the look, but I would never actually use it)
-LV Alma BB (tempted soooo many times, but I don’t like bags where the strap attaches to the handles like that—so I wouldn’t use it)
-Gucci monogram (I’ve bought and sold 3, bc even though I love the look….they don’t go with my wardrobe)

Lady Dior. Really classic. Thought about buying it many times.....but too formal for my wardrobe and not large enough to be a work bag. Seems redundant after owning Kelly and Chanel CF.

For me, it's the Celine box bag and Celine Triomphe, and the YSL small Loulou. I like the designs, but I don't really like using shoulder bags and the boxy shape always looks very heavy and large on my frame. I feel like if I don't pull out my credit card immediately, chances are its something I don't like that much. I trust my instincts a lot.
I have to update my list now. Recently started thinking about the Celine box bag and triomphe again, along with the Ava and Romy. I'm pretty sure I will get the Ava at some point, so I want to talk myself out of getting anything else. I tried on the canvas Ava bags months ago and I really liked them. Because I was thinking about this for weeks I've come up with a list of pros/cons for each to help me narrow down which bag to actually get. This is a good reminder that there are a lot of bags that look good on social media, but a lot of them won't suit me for various reasons, and that's a good thing.

Celine Box Bag and Celine Triomphe bag
Pros:
-Classic style
-messenger style
-very professional
-minimalist
-love both designs

Cons:
- flap bags
- fussy clasp
- smooth leather easily scratchable
- expensive
- Doesn't carry a lot but will look big on me
- Too formal, doesn't go with casual outfits as much.
- Too boxy or rectangular. Doesn't help my body shape or can be overwhelming.
- Box bag has sharp parts on the strap.
- Celine box has bad resale value
- tried them on before and didn't like how they looked on me

Celine Romy
Pros:
-Gorgeous design
-slouchy look
-very casual and minimalist
-cool vibe
- less popular bag, which can be good and bad thing
- Totally different from what I already have in my collection

Cons:
- Expensive
- Too casual for formal events
- Easily damaged leather
- Doesn't hold much without compromising the slouchy shape and then turning into a pencil case.
- might look big on me
- white color might have color transfer or show wear/tear quickly
- not sure about resale value

Celine Ava
Pros:
- Affordable compared to the other Celine bags
- Canvas so its durable
- Cuter and more structured
- Always looks good
- Can go with casual and formal wear
- won't overwhelm my frame
- Totally different from what I already have in my collection
- very popular in asia, which can be good and bad thing

Cons:
- small bag but that can also be a good thing

i bought the LV neverfull from the store back when it was only 1000 cad. I coveted that bag. But when I had it I was disappointed when I found out that the vachetta strap can turn dark in use. That im bot allowed to get it wet. Then i also found out that I am not into big bags because I place only a wallet and a phone. It gets heavy too if I place too much.

The one I would have wanted but I could never buy is a hermes kelly. If i had it it would probably just stay at hone and stared at. I could never afford it. Maybe if I won the lottery. Second, it does not fit my lifestyle. I am a work, grocery type of person. No fancy dinner or date at all. The bag simply wont fit my lifestyle. It would be a very impractical purchase. An investment piece but thats not what a bag should be. Its meant to be used

So many Chanel and Dior totes I love but will probably never purchase because they are too structured (I prefer soft and slouchy) and the straps are not my style (especially the chain straps.. so beautiful but so not my style!)

We are the opposite I am attracted to structured ones. Ive been obsessed with flap bags or those shaped like chloe drew bag or that dior montaigne bag. So im happy to at least own the chanel classic jumbo flap and a hand mee down chloe bag. But im dreaming of that dior montaigne but i cant find a preloved one in the price I like . Its always expensive. I knew i like that style when I purchased a lacoste flap bag but I craved for that black flap leather. I have the LV favorite but I find it too soft.

• Almost any contemporary bag. There are many beautiful ones in cool fabrics and interesting shapes, but I realize I am a purse snob and wouldn’t carry them. I wish it wasn’t so.

• Anything in Louis Vuitton brown monogram. My gosh, I love the brown monogram. And there are so many bags that it looks great in. The trouble is, it never seems to look good on me. I see women wearing it dressed elegantly, sporty and everything in between and it looks so good. On me, though, I feel like I’m trying too hard.

• Fendigraphy bags. OMG I love this bag. I love a good hobo and this is a great hobo. And the big hardware at the bottom is awesome. I would just feel weird carrying it.

• Bottega Veneta. I have a lot of “old” Bottega. I love it. I love new Bottega too, maybe more than the old stuff. But I have so much of the brand that I can’t justify adding anymore.

• Tiny bags that can’t fit my life, especially that tiny Chanel top handle flap clutch with the chain. So stinking cute. So stylish. So not for me.

- Gucci Bamboo Top Handle in the Mini Size. The price is really… a lot ($4600 I think + tax here?) and it’s a really small bag. I don’t like the proportions of the larger sizes. Not even sure the small size fits my iPhone. So I bought a vintage late 90s Tom Ford era red suede bucket bag recently with a bamboo top handle off Etsy and it’s satisfying the urge for me.

- Lady Dior. I liked the Micro LD Vanity case that only fit cards and the Micro LD, but I know the bag will never fit my style.

- Chanel flaps. Also not me. Maybe a 225 Mini or Mini Square Flap but not willing to spend the dough.

I _always_ look longingly at the Miss Dior (large and medium sizes). I had one of each at one point and let them both go, for different reasons. I don't exactly regret it but it's a beautiful bag. Just not for me.

I love the look of boxy, vanity-type bags but I’ve learned that I absolutely hate wearing them. I owned several LV soft trunks but I ended up reselling all of them because they were so uncomfortable to wear and use. The strap was always a bit awkward on my shoulders. It was also such a hassle getting in and out of a LV soft trunk with the zipper coming slightly down on one side and the other.

It’s also why I sold my Prada Brique bag which has a similar, if not worse, design (the zippers going almost all the way around in a rectangular shape). Despite loving the look of the Chanel Vanity, I’ve passed on it also for the same reasons!

Despite the fact that I have the Celine Ava in white canvas and a medium Triomphe bag, I want the Celine ava in tan canvas and the triomphe shoulder bag. Why I like the Celine aesthetic so much right now, I don't know.

For bags I thought about getting but something always held me back: the Dior Saddle bag and the YSL le 5 a 7 bag. Among other reasons these bags wouldn't work for me, I think I was considering those because I wanted black shoulder bags but I thought I had enough Celine bags. I'm going to go back to what I really want, even if it's more Celine bags.

Hobo bags. I own two and love the look when I carry them while wearing certain outfits. However, they are very impractical for me. I feel like my stuff is in a trash bag.

Tote bags. I am a teacher so it’s perfect as a work bag because it fits my laptop, lunch, supply bag, and anything else that I need. However, it’s the only time I carry a tote. During the summer, it goes back to the closet. Since it’s a Dooney, it will probably last forever.

Every time that I see Jennifer Lopez carrying a Birkin while wearing very casual outfits, I want one. Birkin 25 in Rose Poupre, Rose Extreme, or Gris Meyer. See, I even have colors picked out. However, I do NOT like handheld only bags.
