Leather v Silver Plate Tags, Dot v Underscore, Years and Changes

If it is supposed to confuse the conterfeiters, then it is also confusing me! I just saw my sister's twiggy the other day and was surprised that the round rivets do not have notches like what we usually see. I am 100% positive that what she has is authentic, but all these little differences, like hardware size, tags, even the lampo zippers (also noted in ateliernaff) just adds more confusion to us poor bbag addicts on how to discern a fake from a real one.

sorry for bumping this up....
i was at a consignment store today, and they have this Black City with a Leather tag another black city with a silver tag (i forgot which year it was from).
so could the one with Leather tag be fake? but it looks exactly the same as the one with silver tag and the leather is even much smooshier!! i think it was stamped "115748 2123" could it be an older season?!?

Ok gals, so just wondering, does anyone know why the number of the front of the silver tags (the ones that start with N and end with the Season Code) are thought to be leather batch identifiers??

Also, can anyone tell me why the numbers on the back of that leather tag are thought to "serial numbers"??

Ok, two questions:

1. How do we know the Nxxxx number on the Silver Tag = the Leather Batch?
2. How do we know the numbers on the back of the Leather Tag = the Serial number?
