There is nothing wrong with doing this or the bag itself. But the motive here is beyond stupid; And it's obvious, transparent, and pathetic. Give that $10,000 to a starving kid, not for ten seconds of shock factor. Sorry.

So it's only worth it to keep her bag if she leaves it the way she got it? I don't agree. It is her bag, she can do whatever she pleases to it.

As a publicity stunt, I'd say it's worked.:D

However I waiver between 'it's her bag and she can do as she likes with it' and 'it's all a bit desperate and artificial' (but then again, that may be her sort of thing though;))

Wow... I don't think I could ever write on any of my bags, especially a $10K bag. But hey, that's Gaga for you!

Eh, a $10,000k bag when you make, say, $10 million a year (and that might be conservative given the year she's had - no clue what her contract terms are)....what is that, 1/1000th of your income?

On the other hand, someone who makes $30,000 per year and spends $500 on a bag, just spend 1/60th of their income.

So she could buy ten birkins a year, deface them all, and still be financially smarter than the new grad who grabs a Botkier. It's all subjective.

And I fail to see the offense, like others have said. It's a freaking bag. Not a religious symbol. :p And the people who make it are not starving artists - they're well-compensated manual laborers who have developed a highly repetitive skill. They're talented, but not innovative geniuses.

K, off the soapbox! :p

Well IDK. Unlike most artist with her level of popularity/success. She's signed to a 360 deal. Meaning Universal Records/ Interscope takes a portion of all and any of the revenue she generates (not only her music sales but all her endorsements, touring money, and any other deal she signs that makes money). Also Gaga has stated that what money she does make she puts back into her shows. So who knows how much she is actually pockets herself. Back to the bag though, I agree. It's a just a bag. Her bag. So I don't see the big deal about what she does with it. Even if it is Hermes.

Yes, yes... she wrote on a bag that is most of our "holy grails" and to us it seems like she's pissing all over Hermes. But to her, she's just being different - by using sharpie on a 10K bag...
The only thing that really offends me in those pictures is that awful blond wig. Eww...

I don't know if she's doing it for the shock factor, but it would look neat on a different bag.... though she does have a lot of $, so she can do whatever she wants with her money.

True, true. Like I said, I'd be curious to know the terms of her contract with her label. I'm rather clueless in this area, and not sure what the standard percentage of take home for artists is. I know its shockingly low in most cases.
